Even some hospital drivers I know wear a barong type uniform similar to the PSG's and can drive around using vehicles from the hospital fleet (which includes SUV's).

This particular Patrol is not even outfitted like the rest of the PSG's GQ Patrols. It does not have the standard issue lightbar. Instead it wears a magnet-mount strobe. The one you can buy at SM Basement. It also has no official markings and wears those el cheapo gawa-sa-riles 'bullbars' with el cheapo blue and red lamps.

Tugma din yung plate sa age ng sasakyan (which is uncommon for a security plate).

If they are officially a part of the convoy they should identify themselves as such. Any tom, dick, or harry, can buy a white Nissan Patrol then go to SM to get themselves a Taiwan-made magnet mount.

    no they don't...

the "S" series are all red plates.. if you see one that is green, most likely, that is an already "decommissioned" government vehicle, sold to private persons...

usually, government officials who are issued vehicles, have the privilege to buy the service vehicle they were using once they retire... dati ginagawa pa yun na "S" pa din kahit mabenta na (pero mga lumang sasakyan na lang mga yun, mabibilang mo)... nag iissue lang ng green na plate pero S series pa din...

as for security plates, these vehicles have the standard red plates, but are issued green tags (plates) that follows the regular series of plate production at the time of registration...

the last series that i know of for security plates was WKX-### which was eventually scrapped for being obvious...

Why should their time be more valuable than ours? Simply because the have the moolah and we don't? Whenever I hear a siren behind me, I take a quick look at who it's coming from. If it's an ambulance or an official police vehicle, I pull to the side and let them pass. But if it's some moron in a private vehicle, I don't budge an inch. As an honest taxpayer, i have as much right to the road as they do.

Whatever happended to that law banning the use of sirens and convoys? Kinalimutan na ba?

so!? it still doesnt change the fact that in this incident it was the presidential convoy...I don't care if therea re a lot of VIP wannbes, but when it is the preidentail convoy, you have to move out of the way. period!!!

^^^You missed my point shadow, which is that the rampant abuse of sirens and police escorts has led to indignance and confusion as to the "legitimacy" of such convoys. Nine out of ten times I would estimate, convoys are illegal yet tolerated because our police force hasn't the guts to crack down on supposed bigwigs. This has led to a total lack of respect for such, and thus vehicles with sirens and blinkers are often ignored as most drivers assume these are just some abusive government officials who feel that they are above the law.
