it's alabang zapote road. sm southmall is less than 2 kms from alabang town center and usually it takes almost an hour to get to there because of traffic.

I remember, we used to drive alongside another friend's car and for very long stretches, even the sharp turn near (then) Borden/Philips Lighting, never encountered another vehicle in the opposite direction.... Well, so much so for being young and reckless.... Those were the days... (Sorry po, not a good example here....)

Don't feel bad. I used to try and race the jeepneys from the Pilar Village entrance to RFC Supermarket while riding my 10-speed.

Of course, they got way ahead of me. But, I did manage to catch up and pass some of them while they were stopped and taking on passengers. I was in great shape then and brainless to boot. I used to take spills near the Perpetual Help Hospital because of the gravel. But I got up, looked at my skinned/bloody knees, shrugged it off, and continued pedaling home recklessly.

Going back to the centerpoles..... Maybe, they should make permanent barriers except where there are turns....

note: matagal ko nang pinag-iisipan ito. what do you guys think? may nakikita ba kayong mali sa proposal na ito?

This is easy, if only you can trust that the other drivers will not abuse your obedience of the law.

Not only that, but several other key situations where one can endanger others is severely abused in Manila such as counter flow of traffic, following emergency vehicles, etc.

The key is to start small. The problem, is starting it in the first place.

Last night, me naabutan kaming aksidente sa Aurora. A truck had grazed the side of a pick-up, nangyari sa harap ng St. Bridget School, so we were all crawling at a snail's pace since nakaharang sila sa U-turn slot. Trying to go to the left side of the accident scene, I was following a jeepney when a taxi was trying to muscle its way in front of me from my right side. Fine, I let him pass through.

Turns out he intended to keep swerving to the left. Tyempo namang may parating na Starex on my left side. Since nakatigil na kami, we could only watch in horror as the taxi plowed straight into the Starex's front right wheel well. Talagang lubog yung nguso ng taxi. Now there were TWO accident scenes, right beside each other, blocking the U-turn slot. Buhay nga naman, oo. I had to get out of the car and gesture to the other drivers behind me to start swerving to the right, since may nagbanggaan na nga sa harapan ko.

Kulit kasi ni manong taxi driver eh. Masyadong atat, considering that he came all the way from the rightmost lane para lang mag-swerve. Tapos since may nauna nang aksidente dun, syempre may MMDA personnel nang nakapwesto, kaya kitang-kita din nung traffic enforcer yung nangyari. He couldn't have chosen a worse time to be involved in a collision. Yaring-yari talaga.

Heck, kung hindi lang kami nagmamadali, I would have taken pictures of the scene, and testify as an eyewitness na kasalanan talaga ng taxi driver yung nangyari.

na-compare ko lang kasi dito. parang normal na lang kasi ang mag-swerve, mang-cut, jeepneys/buses/tricycles picking up passengers in the middle of the road, overtaking sa shoulder, no respect to crossing pedestrians, tailgating, overspeeding in inner streets, excessive honking, using blinkers/sirens, counterflow, etc...

Congested roads IMO, equates to difficulty in enforcing laws, sa Subic kasi 'di naman congested do'n AFAIK, kaya mas madaling magpatupad ng batas. I think there's something wrong if not in the road system, or the transport network in general which leads to city congestion...
