annoyance to other drivers....i doubt...try to run 80kph on NLEX with the full heavy rain, tingnan ko kung hindi ka kabahan paghindi mo namamalayan ang ibang oto na super lapit na pala....

Ummm guys, if it's raining, turn your goddamn lights on.

Don't turn on your hazard in the rain. Not only because it's stupid, but because you lose the use of your turn signals.

If you turn the regular lights on, poeple will know you're coming. If they see a couple of red lights, they know they're seeing a car's ass.

ALSO, IN CASE YOU GUYS HAVEN'T NOTICED, IN VERY LOW VISIBILITY IT'S VERY HARD TO ESTIMATE THE POSITION OF TWO LIGHTS THAT KEEP BLINKING.

I hope at least some of you got the message.

Turning your hazard doesn't make you any more visible than turning on your lamps. It just makes you lose your signals.

yup very well said alpha one. you're blind if you don't see the tailight or the headlight of other cars even in heavy downpour. as they said in the TV program i watched, "just use your hazard lights in an emergency situation that involves pulling over (changing a flat tire), driving fast to a hospital (matter of life and death emergency)..., otherwise it's just plain annoying and stupid."

that people interchange their plate numbers to avoid color coding. but some are so stupid to put in old plates for new cars and vice versa......
and the police don't know how to differentiate old from the new.

Just this afternoon I saw a 1st-generation Revo with a ZA*-*** plate. If I remember correctly, these Revos are supposed to have U**-*** and W**-*** plates.

Anyway, I think the UVVRP doesn't really "solve" the traffic problem because it penalizes those who have only one car, and those who can afford two cars will do so just because of coding (i.e. DADAMI ang kotse). And the rule breakers.

i don't use the hazard in that situation. i always turn on the headlight whenever there is low visibility.

That's true to a point. Rain or regular rain isn't bad. But, there are places in the world where the downpours are so intense that visibility literally drops down to zero and that's not even taking into account the effect of the deluge on windshields. That's just looking outside from shelter. I've seen it happen once in Leyte PH. But, I've seen it more common in Florida US, and in Colombia. Colombia especially. People literally had to stop in their tracks. But, you're always worried on who's coming up behind you.

But yep. You probably don't have to resort to flashers that often in the Philippines unless you're at or very close to the Equator where thunderstorms can reach as high as 52,000 ft. That's a lot of water coming down.

Edit: Another hazard associated with such a deluge is seeing 1-2 inches of water on the road accumulate in seconds. So hydro-planing is another thing to consider. The only way to slow down is to get off the gas and hope the car slows down enough to get traction back.
