I heard this over a radio station this morning. Apparently after the argument the two agreed to a gun duel. They went home and come back to the agreed meeting place and shot each other. Pathetic.

    news link from inquirer:

The police said that Belen stopped his vehicle and confronted Cristobal, complaining about the glare coming from his motorcycle’s headlight.

The two got into an argument, resulting in both of them going to their homes and returning to the scene with their firearms.

Belen fired first, hitting Cristobal in the feet, apparently to teach him a lesson, according to Bustamante.

However, Cristobal, a professional shooter, retaliated by shooting him thrice in the chest. He then went to the Police Community Precinct Station 6 and gave himself up.

Both are college graduates; One is a Lawyer, the other one is an Engineer. Their respective EQ left them when they need it most. Between going home, getting their guns and shooting each other, what were they thinking?

A degree doesn't make one educated.

And lawyers are masters of rhetoric, not wisdom. People seem to conflate the two.

Unlikely. Getting a gun shows malice, and returning to resume the argument constitute a duel. It doesn't matter who shoots first, if one dies the other will be charged with homicide. Even if no one dies, accepting a duel is a criminal offense.

The incident happened because of an argument with a LED headlight, in which case I really do hope that there is lack of sufficient provocation on the part of the person defending himself, otherwise, the claim of self defense will not stand.

Sorry Sir but I beg to disagree on your own understanding as you only based this on the news report. I would like to comment on your post but I would choose not to in order not to divulge more information about the case.

But for clarification, the headlight incident was already over when the shooting incident happened.
Also, the headlight incident took place on another location where the shooting incident happened.

Based on investigation which the inq7 did not write, the Atty after the headlight incident went home and took his gun and roamed around the village to hunt down the motorcycle rider. Fortunately for me, I was riding my SUV that time since it was midnight and I need to take a long route back home after my visit to my friend (gates at closes at 12MN). This is why I was on my SUV. This is when he identified me as the motorcycle rider, then he fired his gun multiple time towards me, then I got hit on my leg and foot.

Now, if you will be on the same situation, what will you do???????? Isn't this SELF DEFENSE???

it seems like people were easily convinced by the news article that has been written to judge a person.
You do not know what really happened on this unfortunate event that almost cost a valuable life.
Things happened for a reason. Life is valuable and you need to protect it if someone tries to take it away from you.

I wouldn't expect anything good from confronting a person who has no sense of courtesy (judging from his glaring LED lights).

I also don't go by the saying "parang walang pinag aralan" as it implies that educated people are supposed to act better. The way a person acts is more about character, upbringing and family background. It makes me wonder how these 2 people were raised by their parents to be so violent

Just this morning (~5AM) may nakasalubong ako na motorsiklo na naka-LED bar at ang lakas ng glare. I just put my HIDs to high and he turned off his LED bar leaving his stock halogen headlights on. I then turned my HL to low and we both went our own way.
