Horror at McKinley | Business, News, The Philippine Star | philstar.com

A horrible incident reportedly occurred over the weekend at McKinley Road near the exclusive Forbes Park, with a young man believed to be of Indian descent allegedly ramming his Audi R8 sports car into another Audi. The impact reportedly made the R8 swerve, in turn causing a motorcycle with two passengers to crash into the vehicle. According to reports, one victim instantly died while two other persons are now in serious critical condition. One of the victims reportedly had to have a leg amputated.

While the crash may not have been a terrorist act with the same magnitude as the Boston Marathon explosions, witnesses said they were aghast and appalled to see the driver of the R8 speeding away from the accident, going straight towards the entrance of Dasmariñas Village where he reportedly instructed security guards not to let anyone enter the Village. The driver – said to be a wealthy young man who has a business importing eyewear (an oaky-dokey kind of brand) – was allegedly high on booze and prohibited drugs.

Ten years ago, a similar incident also happened to a businessman involved in a hit-and-run, then later on paid his driver to take the blame. This time however, there is no chance for the Indian national pinning the blame on anyone else since he was positively identified by the driver of the other Audi as clearly the one on the wheel.

The Indian-Filipino multi billionaire won't see the inside of a prison. Same reason all those reckless bus drivers neither spend time for causing death and mayhem in EDSA... An offer of money rather than a decade-long litigation will keep him out of jail...

I wonder if this was the white R8 I saw inside Dasma a few weeks ago.

Quite unfortunately, in this situation, money will speak very loud.

Why do people speed on McKinley Road? It's narrow and dotted with roads coming out of the villages and clubs. I remember also an M5 that got wrecked there years ago. A family friend also lost his son to a high speed car accident on that road as well.

    Indian in hit-and-run charged
By Mike Frialde and Reinir Padua (The Philippine Star) | Updated April 25, 2013 - 12:00am

Luxury car not under suspect’s name

MANILA, Philippines - Police yesterday filed charges against an Indian-Filipino businessman who allegedly figured in a hit-and-run that killed a motorcycle driver in Makati City after he failed to surrender.

Rajiv Ramesh Dargani, president of Sunglass Hut Philippines, was slapped with charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries and abandonment of one’s victim with the Makati prosecutor’s office, according to city police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban.

Lukban said a representative of Dargani requested that police not directly file the case as he would surrender, but he failed to show up.

Dargani was identified by witnesses as the driver of a luxury car that crashed into a motorcycle along McKinley Road at past 3 a.m. Saturday.

He was driving along McKinley Road on his way home to Dasmariñas Village from the direction of the Bonifacio Global City when he allegedly overtook another vehicle and hit a motorcycle on the opposite lane.

Motorcycle driver Henrix Bernardo died on the spot while his passenger, Glenn Nacion Jr., was critically injured, Lukban said.

He added that after the accident, Dargani allegedly did not stop and instead drove to Dasmariñas Village. However, Dargani left the village and has not been seen since.

Lukban said police officers went to Dargani’s house but neither he nor his car was there.

He said the relatives of Dargani’s victims told police that they are not pursuing the case and have executed an affidavit of desistance.

    Porsche, not Audi

The luxury car driven by Dargani was not an R8 Audi but a Porsche, a check with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) showed yesterday.

The LTO said the black two-door Porsche Carrera was not registered under the name of the Indian-Filipino businessman. Its registered owner is a certain Joey Valencia of San Juan City based on LTO records.

Its last registration was April 12 this year.

Dargani’s name appeared twice on the LTO database of holders of driver’s license without his photo.

Looks like another moron overspeeding/reckless sports car owner, who believes his car is exempted from road safety rules of staying within speed limits.
    :
What's horrifying is the thought that he will most probably get back in Philippine roads, and continue to victimize / injure / kill other innocent filipinos.

And what's disgusting are those who even glorify these sports car owners when they overspeed / perform reckless driving in public roads, willfully endangering the lives of fellow motorists, and commuters. :fire:

    R.I.P. to the victim

Siguro he meant when Fort Bonifacio was still a limited access facility. Dumadaan lang sa McKinley were residents of Forbes/Dasma, Manila Golf and Polo Club members, and military personnel.
