Happened to me too.
Let's give pedestrians courtesy. We would be in the other side of the fence sooner or later.

January 31st, 2007 02:45 PM #14What's the general rule/courtesy ba when encountering pedestrians? From what I know pedestrians should only cross the street when there is minimum, or no, traffic/vehicle density. And in turn, pedestrians should have the presence of mind to extend courtesy as well to motorists.
Don't get me wrong, since I still commute (bus, AUV, trike, jeep, taxi) whenever I'm without a car, but crossing the street should be a give and take sort of thing. There are pedestrians who cross the street out-of-turn and you can't blame some of the motorists in wanting to run over these people. For instance there are people who insist/force on crossing at an intersection even with a green light. And there are pedestrians who force their way across CLEARLY barricaded areas. If running over these people was legal, I'd happily do it--and keep score at that (to compare with my friends).
The street/highway was made for the passage of vehicular traffic--that's why when I cross the street I make it a point to get the hell out of there as fast as I can (even on pedestrian crossings), para hindi rin ako makaabala ng ibang tao/motorist. Sidewalks and designated walkways are for foot-traffic. During concerts or events, authorities should never allow foot-traffic to spillover into the highway--lalo lang magta-traffic yung mga sasakyan.
When we find ourselves as pedestrians, we should also make an effort to extend courtesy to motorists.
