GPS Tracking System is better investment than GPS Navigation System. To date wala pa akong narinig sa dami ng mga naka-carnap na sasakyan na narerecover within hours. Mga mobile cars lang na nagloloko sa kung saan-saan.
Sana magkaroon din ng pre-paid tracking. I found one on the internet (no monthly charges) but Im not sure kung pwede sa Pinas. Kailangan lang Google Earth at account (like email) to trace the location of your toys.

Why would you confuse tracking to navigation? A GPS navigation system is not a tool against vehicle theft. It's actually an incentive for thieves.

SIM-based GPS trackers have been on the market for some time. It's a GPS receiver that accepts a phone SIM card. You call the GPS tracker and it sends its coordinates to you via SMS ... as simple as that. Some trackers can even send unrequested positional details so you can track it in real time.

A digital map (like Google's or whatever) on your mobile phone would be very handy, but a grid paper map would do the same job in telling you where the tracker is.

Obviously it will work anywhere in the world - but only as long as you have a network signal. You don't need a subscription for the tracking service nor an e-mail account ... just an extra SIM (with load ) for the tracker.

    sir StraightSix,
what Im saying here is Tracking and NOT Navigation (misqouted). In (a)Tracking, you trace/find your receiver kung nasaan na sya, while in (b) Navigation, you ask your tracer/gadget to show the routes kung saan mo gusto pumunta. And your right, item (b) is an incentive to thieves but not item (a)!.

A digital map (like Google's or whatever) on your mobile phone would be very handy, but a grid paper map would do the same job in telling you where the tracker is.> Exactly, that's why I bought a bounded map (magazine) as reference for myself. Actually, I am not impressed with those new navigation gadgets/softwares that are out in the market
today. Instead, Im looking into that same GPS receiver that is used by the MPD (Manila Police District) today. It's a receiver similar to the size of a cigarette pack, no display screen, touch screen or whatsover, its a plain 'box' chip.

Obviously it will work anywhere in the world - but only as long as you have a network signal. You don't need a subscription for the tracking service nor an e-mail account ... just an extra SIM (with load ) for the tracker.> What I found on the internet on this GPS
provider is you have register or create an account similar to an email or social networks (parang freindster or facebook) in order to maximize the viewing of your logs. Tracking is in flexible frequency: 1) can be by subscription (daily, weekly or monthly) and this is ideal for fleet use. You can create reports, # of stops, vehicle speed, etc. and 2) kung
kailan mo gusto kahit once a year (o kaya kung na-carnap na nga ang sasakyan mo). And if that happens, of course you go to the authorities. Just like renting on an internet shop, you'll need to do is log-in and tell them (police, TMG, TF Limbas, etc) what's going on.

That's it. I just can't devulge the brand of that GPS provider/manufacturer. Im not paid to do that.

ung device nla ung nkasolve nung nacarnap na pajero noon.
knowing that recovery of stolen vehicles in the Metro is almost impossible, many owners still dont care to spend on this. Either they would opt for a nice audio setup or a GPS navigation but not tracking.

BTW, avoid posting in SMS/TXT format.

rather than subscribing to a tracking service or rely on GLOBE Tracker or Smart's alternative... might as well just buy a China GPS/SMS hybrid device. Basically you just have to attach a SIM card into it then load it lang. It comes bundled with a car charger and may battery din (Nokia type so madaling palitan) so everytime you go just place it in your glove compartment or what-not.

If it gets stolen or your kids suddenly use your car without your permission, you can just contact the unit with the number of the SIM you inserted and it will reply with the exact GPS coordinates. Type the coordinates lang in Google Maps and you pretty much get the location. Saves you an annual fee or two. Just my .02, it's what we use for our trucking business anyways... funny may emergency voice feature siya na pag literal na na sumasideline yung driver, pwede mong tawagan yung unit then sigaw ka "HOY ANO SINA-SIDELINE MO!" lol
