Izzy, any possible distinguishing marks na of the Fortuner? I doubt they will be running around with the orig plates still. Conduction stickers? Other marks? What model rin? So folks can possibly be on the lookout.

Carjackers strike anew, take Fortuner in QC
    http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryId=25249

Carjackers struck anew on Monday, seizing a Toyota Fortuner sedan from a motorist along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City, DZMM reported.

Police said two armed men seized the vehicle from driver Godofredo Clenuar after using their vehicle to ram into the victim's car late Monday.

Clenuar told police he was entering the Violago Homes in Barangay Bahay Toro near Congressional Avenue when the suspects' vehicle rear-ended the Toyota Fortuner he was driving.

He said the suspects poked guns at him after he got off the car to inspect the damage. He said the two men drove to Barangay Ugong in Valenzuela where he was dropped off along with his passenger.

Clenuar said the vehicle belonged to a certain Omar Bayron, a bank manager. Clenuar is the first carjacking victim in Quezon City this month.

Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan, Quezon City police director, said the city's limited number of patrol cars is hampering the QCPD's anti-carjacking campaign in the City. Radovan said the QCPD has only 80 cars to patrol the city.

The National Anticrime Task Force (NACTAF) said Sunday that carjacking and car theft cases nationwide were reduced on November.

Based on the task force’s records, six vehicles were stolen in November, three of which were forcibly taken. The number translates to 2.22 percent of the total incidents in July, with 37 cases when the campaign against carjacking and car theft was launched.

Of the 37 vehicles stolen in July, 14 were forcibly taken by armed men by either flagging the driver down on the highway or while the driver was about to board the vehicle, it added.

However, knowing that the police always has the tendency to manipulate the figures para hindi sila mapusoy, I would rather see the figures of the Insurance Companies kung ilan ang nag-fa-file ng insurance claims for carnapped/carjacked vehicles.

he did not post any details as well. yan lang pinost nya sa HCP.

pero he said it was the one that was televised. yung na carjack malapit sa Visayas ave. i'm not sure if it's the same with the article posted here.

Second time around for carjackers in QC

Editor's Note: Published on Page A19 of the December 21, 2005 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer

CAR thieves struck anew in Quezon City the other night, taking at gunpoint the sports utility vehicle of a bank executive—the second reported case in the city this month.

Two armed men aboard a silver sedan blocked a dark gray Toyota Fortuner being driven by Godofredo Fuego, 47, along Congressional near corner Visayas Avenues in Barangay Bahay Toro on Monday at 9:45 p.m.

The police said the suspects acted as though the SUV had bumped them, cursing at the driver who was with an unidentified housemaid.

Armed with a .45-caliber handgun, one of the suspects boarded the SUV, with license plate ZBY-166, and sped away, with Fuego and the housemaid inside.

The suspects headed for Valenzuela City, where they dropped off the driver and the housemaid, said Quezon City Police District anticarnapping (Ancar) unit head Chief Insp. Rudy Jaraza.

The SUV was owned by a bank manager who asked not to be named.

Jaraza said the owner had asked his housemaid and driver to buy medicine. But on their way back to Violago Homes III, the sedan, with no car plates, blocked their path.

The incident was the second case of carjacking in the city.

On Dec. 17, a Nissan X-trail, with license plate XSL-318, was taken forcibly from John Michael Cusi on Palanan Street corner Retiro by two unidentified gunmen, according to Ancar records.

The victim was also dropped off somewhere in Valenzuela City, prompting police to believe that the same group of carjackers was responsible for both cases.

Jaraza said Ancar had already identified the suspects and was just waiting for the opportunity to catch them.

Only four members of the criminal group still operate in Quezon City and Valenzuela City, he added.
