I have not yet read the whole thread but the explanation for this is pretty simple. There are some vehicles that even when running at the speed limit can pose some danger to vehicles behind them. Vehicles like dump trucks whose tires can kick up rocks or who are carrying gravel which can damage vehicles driving behind it even at what we consider to be a safe distance. You don't exactly have to ramp it up to 180kph to overtake them, just pull into a passing lane, do a brief 120kph and vacate the passing lane as soon as the passing maneuver is completed. Then resume driving at legal speeds.
For me, the slower vehicle should always yield to the faster vehicle. And I'm not saying this because I drive a mega-horsepower sportscar, I'm saying this because I drive pretty slow vehicles. Some cars I drive already require a prayer just to reach 100kph. I've gotten pretty used to yielding the right of way to Kia Prides and Daihatsu Charades.
Yep. I was doing around 120kph when a sportscar flashed me. After I overtook the 18 wheeler I dove back into the slower lanes and let the faster vehicle pass. Wala naman kaso iyon. Size doesn't really matter, I was in a bigger vehicle at the time. What if you’re at 140kph and
someone tails and flashes you? Tatabi ka rin ba?
