Character actor Rocky Gutierrez — son of actor Eddie Gutierrez and talent manager Annabelle Rama and brother of Ruffa, Richard and Raymond Gutierrez — is facing charges of malicious mischief from two tech journalists whose car he allegedly vandalized at the parking area of the condominium building where he is presently staying.
In an interview with InterAksyon during the recent launch of the 2013 Yahoo! OMG! Awards at URBN Bar and Kitchen, Yahoo! Philippines tech editor Alora Uy Guerrero revealed that the incident happened to her and her companion, Ramon “Monch” Lopez, a gadgets consultant and fellow tech journalist, last June 2 between 8PM and 3AM at One Beverly Place in Annapolis, Greenhills.
Guerrero said she and Lopez were in the building to visit a friend, who resides in one of the units in the condominium.
After being allowed by the guards to park Lopez’s Honda maroon sedan in the basement of the building, Guerrero said she and Lopez were shocked to discover that the latter’s vehicle was vandalized with ugly scratches on its hood.
A lipstick was also used to print the expletives “**** you”, “Moron” and “Asshole” in the windows and the windshield of the car — allegedly by Gutierrez and a female companion.
“We were in our friend’s unit between 8PM and 3AM so I assumed the vandalism took place somewhere between those hours,” Guerrero recalled.
Asked by InterAksyon how she found out that the culprit was Gutierrez and company, Guerrero said she repeatedly asked the “initially uncooperative” condominium guard assigned at the parking area and building administration personnel of One Beverly Place.
It was eventually confirmed to her by one of the building administration staff that Gutierrez is a tenant of the condo unit owned by sister Ruffa.
“Apparently, the parking space (no “reserved” sign) was theirs. Thing is, the guard allowed us to park in the basement. We didn’t know that he shouldn’t have let us in the first place; it was our first time there. The OIC admitted that the guard was wrong. We are not that foolish to use someone else’s parking space,” Guerrero earlier tweeted.
As to whether the actual vandalism incident was caught on video, Guerrero said the building administration confirmed that it was although she has yet to see it herself. “They said it was seen on video that it was Rocky Gutierrez and his girlfriend who did it but since I haven’t seen the video yet, I’m just taking their word for it.”
Hoping to talk to Gutierrez and get his side of the story, Guerrero left several messages with the building administration to pass on to Gutierrez since she could not get his contact details directly. Gutierrez never responded to any of her messages.
“I just wanted him to explain why he did what he did and apologize for it,” she said.
Upon reporting the incident at the nearby Greenhills Police Station, Guerrero then discovered that the lipstick also used to vandalize Lopez’s car was left on the side of the windows. They also discovered that the license plate in front of the car is now loose, possibly as a result of someone kicking it.
Through an old tweet of fugitive actress Sarah Lahbati, girlfriend of Rocky’s brother, Richard, Guerrero discovered the Twitter account of Gutierrez and tweeted him twice. The actor did not respond.
“What the One Beverly Place guys should have done was call our host so we could have gone down and explain our side to the other party. What the other party hould have done was talk to us. Iyan ang hirap sa mga assuming. Now, they will face criminal complaint for malicious mischief,” Guerrero further tweeted.
In the subsequent interview, Guerrero confirmed that she and Lopez intend to go back to the Greenhills Police Station Wednesday to formalize their complaint.
