Matagal na pero i don't know if it's true.
* the building owner with the FX, he's probably trying to keep a low key (tago sa BIR, pulis, holdaper, kidnapper at pulitiko). Plus also, if you frequent the Binondo area, you really wouldnt want to bring a big, shiny car. makitid yung mga parking, daming tao naglalakad (takad dent at gasgas).

Not only ordinary people but also guards in exclusive subdivisions.
As always, I go to my SIL's house in one exclusive subd near Sta.Lucia Mall in Cainta. Whenever I pass the gate and the guard house, I always go through the right lane where cars with stickers can only pass. Since my ride is new (doesn't have plate that time) they didn't bother me but immediately raises the 'harang' with matching salute. Cars on my back (older cars) gets apprehended for passing that lane w/o sticker.
Up to now I still do it even without the subd sticker

moral lesson of that story: hindi lahat ng naka-FX ay cheap, (naka-FX din ako, DATI) hehehehe..!!!!joke lang. or let's say don't judge the asset of a person by means of a car he drives. meron nga ako kilala atty. na e, pero lite-ace lang ang gamit.

usually middle class people are the ones who are very conscious of cars of other people
2nd pinakamahal na asset kasi ng pinoy middle class ang sasakyan (1st is the house. but many pinoys are renters so pinakamahal na asset nila ang sasakyan)
kaya sasakyan ang basehan nila sa yaman ng ibang tao (babaw no?)
unlike the really rich that own many other assets, motor vehicles represent only a small percentage of their net worth (nasa ibang level sila. my building is taller than your building)

Between my former boss and his Jaycee friends, their list of assets include commercial buildings in prime districts, properties in HK, Canada, US, etc. I can't say though that they're all happy and content with their lives.
I was in a meeting yesterday and one of our property managers mentioned that there are a good number unit owners in our projects who drive BMWs, Audis and MBs. The clincher is, this is one of our "low end/affordable" developments where a unit will cost as much as a Monty Sport. Go figure...
