Hindi pala sa Mcdonald's nagkabarilan. Lumayo na pala yung vios pero sinundan ng taxi, sumugod may patalim kaya binaril ng Vios. That's self defense for me and almost all the comments are blaming the taxi driver. I think the vios exercised restraint na nga kasi sa Mcdo pa lang pwede na siyang barilin. I would have done the same (shoot a man na running towards me with a knife)

If may license yung bumaril, pwd pa ilaban as self defense.
Ma question nalang kung bakit hindi niya ni report agad.

One of the requirements of self defense is the reasonable necessity of the means employed to prevent or repel it.

Since the taxi driver had a knife, the other driver could have gone to his car, locked the doors and drove away. Or if the car is stuck, stayed inside the car and used his phone to call for help.

It might be prevented that way but if walang namatay, may self defense case ba ganyan?
Also, depende na cgro gaano kagaling yung attorney ng suspect.

Pwede pa din i push ang self defense, pwd kasi ma argue na the suspect is just trying to repel the victim or not damaging his property.
Last resort was to use the gun since dyan lang niya nakita yung knife nung lumapit na yung victim.

If the gun owner is on the up and up and everything is legit, malaki chance nya for a self-defense case. Possibly the major snag is he shot/executed the taxi driver while the latter was already on the ground. So, manslaugter, maybe?

The taxi driver kasi, sugod pa rin ng sugod, tapos yung last na sugod nya allegedly may deadly weapon pang involved.

Dapat siguro, the gun owner should've just threatened the taxi driver with the hand gun and gave him a chance to retreat. But hindsight is 20/20.

Yup. I'm not fast enough to run inside my car so I'll shoot talaga. I'm with the Vios driver, naghanap talaga ng kamatayan yung taxi, umiwas na vios, sinundan pa niya at sinugood ng knife My Mom made the right decision not to get me a gun. My Dad never taught me to handle a gun din. They know their daughter too well. Admittedly, I have a temper and I am hot headed.

Fired 4 shots though (1 apparently missed).... leg, neck, and head. That might complicate things for a self-defense plea. Hard to tell exactly from the CCTV but it seems that he was already immobilized when he received the fatal shot.
