modern bulletproofing of windows wouldn't add that much weight since they just apply a tint-like film on the windows. this is enough to stop small firearms, baseball bats & other projecticles.

mmm... interesting, what material do they use? and how does it stop a small firearm? Does it "catch" the bullet? and how many rounds before it completely breaks?

AFAIK, they use kevlar for the body, kevlar is also heavy. There is a new material lighter and stronger than kevlar called dyneema, don't know if its available here.

will read again the article... it is available locally...

classified kung ilang rounds before a bullet will penetrate. parang ginawa niyang reinforced yung glass mo. mag crack yung class pero hindi mag complete break.

IMHO bulletproofing will only work if youre inside the car. if its parked and napasukan, e di the theives have an armored vehicle pa

I think glass etching is a good deterant. Kung tutok and they see that your glass is etched, malamang back out yan and just look for one that is not. Of course it is not a guarantee.

Yung window film that acts as bullet proof is too expensive. One layer would cost you P5k. You need about seven layers of that to stop a .45 or a 9mm. Thats 35k! Tapos super labo na ng glass mo coz of the number of layers.

Sabi ng TMG, madaling buksan yung susian tulad ng 1st of 2nd gen pajero. Kasi e-ring lang ang humahawak dun. Hihilahin lang daw yung susian or itutulak (in case of lancer), bukas na. Mahirap daw yung ibang cars na integrated sa door handle yung susi. For one, masisira yung door handle if you force it. Tapos naka mold yata sa door handle yung assembly. Trooper daw mahirap din buksan and hot wire kaya "tutok" din ang M.O.

How? Saw a feature on discovery regarding bulletproofing a vehicle... in a demo they fired at a non bullet proof vehicle, one shot lang basag na salamin.
