March 18th, 2014 09:48 PM #41The boy's mother, Regin de Guzman Palileo, said despite her pleadings and explanation of the medical emergency, Rotanel insisted that the airline had the right to offload any passenger using a damaged passport.
Palileo said her son used the same passport in their last travel to United States but did not encounter any problem.
She also accused Rotanel of being rude by shouting at them when they insisted and explained why they should be allowed to leave.

^Surprisingly, they passed the same Cebu check-in counter and BI with a defective passport.
Unless, sinira ng bata paglampas nila ng immigration.
I have a friend whose passport soaked inside a washing machine and was able to pass HK, PRC, and Manila BI. Well, that was before the electronic passport era.Last edited by confused shoes; March 19th, 2014 at 01:06 AM.

March 19th, 2014 01:32 AM #47In a statement posted on its official Facebook account Tuesday, Cebu Pacific said it accommodated the Palileo family on its Ho Chi Minh flight last Sunday after the child was presented with a temporary passport from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
"Upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh, the family was met and assisted by our station officer. While clearing with Vietnam Immigration, they initially presented the defective passport and this was not accepted. They were only accepted for entry when they presented the newly issued passport," the company said.
Cebu Pacific apologized for the alleged rude behavior of its employee in explaining the situation

Defective nga yung passport, even Vietnam Immigration did not accept it. However, the CebuPac officer should have handled the situation professionally.

March 19th, 2014 09:51 AM #49The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), however, deemed that the passport was still fit for use. But to avoid further argument with the airline management, the DFA issued the boy a temporary passport so he could leave for Vietnam on Sunday.
baka naman sinabi lang ng cebupac na hindi tinanggap yung old passport sa vietnam. At kung nag issue man ng temp passport si DFA why would the parent still show the old passport to vietnam immigration officers? which is hindi talaga tatanggapin dahil wala dun ang tatak ng exit from PH dahil malamang ang tatak ng exit feom PH ay nasa new/temp passport na
