From FB Pinauwi si suspect kasi wala sa jurisdiction ng China.

In the Internet of China, there are many netcitizens claimed that a foreign male attendant stolen money from China travelers in flight 5J052 from Philippine to Changsha in August 11th. Apparently, the crew from the plane flying to China asked everyone to close their windows and turned off the lights. The suspect then went to the passengers bags and stole money. When caught, he tried to throw the evidence in the restroom. There are also many photos. This matter arises many discussion in China. So as a reporter, I may ask you some questions. If that attendant has came back to Philippine? How is the investigation going on? I have called the press department many times but no one answers.
I am waiting for your reply, thank you.

Cebu Pacific Air Hi Yang Yang, we have been made aware of this alleged incident of theft in one of our flights. CEB is conducting an investigation in parallel with an independent, third-party security group on this alleged incident. CEB will take the appropriate action, depending on the result of the investigation. Thank you.

aah ang naalala ko yung bago mag take off or landing na dinidim ang lights pero pinapa open ang shades for safety reason.

pero pano pa rin nila nagawa yun kung madilim? so kung totoo man they already knew where to look?

Taghirap ang beki, baka wala na pang-allowance sa mga papa niya. Cebupac should be a little more stringent in hiring FAs I guess. Nakakahiya, pati sa plane may tirador.

Either the passenger was asleep/reading and not paying attention when the FA alledgedly removed the bag from the overhead. Maybe flights should have CCTVs too...

Stealing from overhead bins is not unheard of...

Mainland man arrested for stealing from overhead lockers on flight to Hong Kong
    By Isaac Cheung July 10, 2015 / 17:35 HKT

A mainlander was arrested last night on suspicion of stealing more than HKD10,000 in cash from overhead bins during a Dragonair flight from Dhaka to Hong Kong.

The man allegedly stole money, mobile phones, and jewellery from bags belonging to two other passengers during the night flight, reports the SCMP.

Flight attendants discovered the theft and alerted the authorities, who arrested the man once the plane landed at Hong Kongs Chep Lap Kok airport at around 7am.

Five different types of currency were found on the suspect after a search by the police, leading to suspicions that he is a professional thief, reports The Sun.

Inspector Chan Chun-ip of the airport police intelligence unit urged the public to keep an eye on their belongings while travelling abroad this holiday season.

Cebu Pacific probes flight steward for allegedly stealing P58K from passengers

Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) is investigating a flight steward who allegedly stole some 8,000 Chinese Yuan (approximately nearly P58,000) from passengers in a China-bound flight.

In a statement, lawyer and CEB officer-in-charge for corporate affairs Paterno Mantaring Jr. said that the company has been informed of the theft and has been “conducting a thorough investigation in parallel with an independent third-party investigating body.”

A report of the incident, taken from a China-based daily and circulated Thursday on the social networking site Facebook and on Twitter, said that the August 11 flight from the Kalibo International Airport had just landed at the Changsha Huanghua International Airport in China when the theft was discovered.

Three passengers reportedly found out that they lost cash, amounting to 8,000 Yuan, from their baggage and sought the help of local authorities. The immediate response of the police resulted in the recovery of some of the missing money from inside the aircraft.

Likewise the suspected thief, identified in the report as a male steward, had allegedly tried to get rid of the cash in the restroom, throwing them in the trash can and flushing them down the toilet.

It was not clear, however, how the male steward ended up as the primary suspect in the theft.

Even then, Mantaring said, “As part of standard procedure, cabin crew members of the said flight will be placed on paid leave and a non-flying status, pending the completion of the investigation.”

He further assured, “CEB will take the appropriate action, depending on the result of the investigation.”

Better visibility of the outside condition. Especially when it's already dark (like night flights). People onboard must be able to see immediately the outside condition during the critical phases of the flight which are the takeoff/landing phase. So when emergency arises and evacuation is needed, people can evacuate immediately depending on their assessment of the outside condition.

In combat areas and hostile air space, it is light and noise discipline to reduce the risk of being seen and shot down. Even final approach is done in a steeper glide slope from a higher altitude (combat landing)

In other situations, for the control tower to be able to see the aircraft/s' attitude, direction and whether the aircraft's landing gears or other equipment are normal otherwise, the glare from the non essentials would obscure visibility from the ground

Oo nga. Kahit patay pa ilaw nyan, maaaninag mo naman kung sino o ano ang gagawin sa overhead compartment mo.
Ano yan, mahimbing na tulog silang lahat, kaya nakapagnakaw si attendant?

I heard similar stories of syndicates boarding international flights for the purpose of stealing from passengers.

cebu pacific fleet, of course, are registered under Philippine laws, not Chinese laws. they carry Philippine flag, not Chinese flag.

Article 2 of the Revised Penal Code provides that: Except as provided in the treaties and laws of preferential application, the provisions of this Code shall be enforced not only within the Philippine Archipelago, including its atmosphere, its interior waters and maritime zone, but also outside of its jurisdiction, against those who:
    1. Should commit an offense while on a Philippine ship or airship xxx
