Of course, not all people with HID are bad. But then, parang issue ng bullbar 'yan eh: it's not easy to establish whether they're there out of necessity or merely for bragging rights. Maybe one way is to observe the car: if it doesn't have a less dazzling set of auxiliary lights to supplement the HIDs, obviously porma lang yung habol ng may-ari.

minsan kasi people flash me thinking naka hi beam ang hid ko
That's supposed to be surprising? Unless you have a huge sign on your hood that says, "Warning: HID-equipped vehicle.", expect people to flash their headlights at you in turn because they're dazzled. Syempre gagawin din nila yun sa mga naka-halogen na high beam, nagkataon lang na brighter than usual ang ilaw mo. Besides, a lot of drivers here don't even have to know what HID stands for. All they need to know is that it hurts the eyes, and that's enough for them to react accordingly. Can you honestly blame them? Put yourself in their place, and you will do likewise, 'di ba?

then i flash them to tell them that naka low me and ganyan talaga kaliwanag head lights ko.
Syempre, a natural reaction on your part. I'd imagine it would be quite a hassle for you to get down every time and explain to every single driver na makasalubong mo that you have HIDs, baka hindi ka na maka-uwi. :D

Pardon my asking, pero was that really necessary? I mean, you are aware that your lights are already unusually bright at low beam, tapos nag-high beam ka pa, e 'di lalo lang silang nasilaw. And they'll just end up resenting you even more for that.

Scenario: What if you come across a driver who's had a really bad day, nag-flash ka ng HID mo, and he suddenly snaps? Paano kapag he happens to be armed, hinabol ka niya tapos paputukan ka na lang? At paano pag nangyari lahat yan with your loved ones aboard your car? What then?

I was going to suggest that, instead of turning your high beam on, you can turn off your lights to show that you meant no harm, gets the message across just as clearly. Except for one problem: masama sa HID ang patay-sindi. Kung wala kang auxiliary lights na magagamit, paano na? Congratulations, then: napasubo ka na dahil sa ilaw mo.

hope nobody flames me here and understand my side.
What I don't understand is: do some drivers really need HID, when other drivers obviously manage just as well with standard halogens?

    Yah. Tama ka.

When you said na when they flash and you return with a flash. Mas tingin nila na mayabang ka. Minsan sa hindi maganda kapupuntahan yan.

I was thinking few days ago of installing HID for my xtrail but after giving a good though if I really need it or not I evaluated my stock lights and times that I drive at night. I ended up not installing them. The stock lights in xtrail are good enough already for me. They are very bright already. Reading the post here in tsikot about HIDS I said to myself good thing that I did not go through buying the HIDS.

What is wrong with giving your car "porma"? Its like saying people should stick to their stock tires and rims. I guess we are all, in one way or the other, guilty of making their cars "porma". If it makes you feel good that your car is different from the rest, why not.

Again, not all cars with HIDs are arrogant. I've been using HIDs for more than a year now and there were very few incidents (less than five if I recall) that cars in front of me would flash their lights. In the few cases, I would turn of my lights.

Not all bright lights out there are HIDs. You have those who increase their wattage from the stock 55W. There are also the coverted right hand drive vehicles who did not re-adjust their light direction. And there are those who just don't care and likes using their hi beam. I hope they are getting equal attention in this thread.

For those with HIDs, if you see that your light is above the trunk of the car (ordinary sedan) in front of you in traffic, then you have to adjust your light. Having an HID entails more responsibility and outmost courtesy.

Dressing up your ride should be within reasonable bounds. If the extra accessories you put in your car start to endanger fellow drivers on the road, then it becomes unreasonable, even illegal in my book. That's my beef with HID. True, I have equipped my ride with a rear spoiler (which mounts a third brake lamp), stepboards and rain visors, and these hardly are annoying, much less endangering anyone the way HIDs are.

I hope no one here would be *insensitive* enough as to cite "porma", at the expense of the safety of their fellow motorists.

People can always bring up the "It's my money" argument, regarding HIDs. Fine, it's their money, but it's also my eyesight on the line, which is what I mainly depend on when I'm on the road. Besides, certain motorists I see dressing up their cars the way they do, are living proof that money can buy neither taste nor common sense, but that's another story.

I wouldn't exactly wear shades at night just to shield my eyes from HID glare. I wouldn't even think of darkening my windshield tint, because I wouldn't be able to see as well, which will then force me to shell out a considerable sum to buy a set of -- wow, HIDs!

Again, not all cars with HIDs are arrogant.
    Of course not.

Good for you. But again, hindi ba masama sa HID ang patay-sindi?

    I hope so, too.

HID or not if its not properly aligned masisilawan ka talaga. Best way to avoid endangering our fellow motorists is to have your headlamps aligned.

problem dito s pinas... dapt yung mga nagbebenta ng HID meron silang headlite aligner... kasi majority ng binentahan nila... not properly aligned... so silaw ang kasalubong...

everybody wants greater visibilty at night...who doesn't (mga jeep hehehe, di nga nagbubukas ng headlite eh)... we're not saying HID users are bad but they should be responsible din... like i said in my first post... the civic was sporting 4 HID's and we were on Annapolis greenhills at 2am... flashed him twice did he even bother turning of his HID and just use his fogs? NO!

then the arrogant driver i mentioned is the galant gti using regular lamps but at full bright... so 4 lamps yung nakatutok sa akin.

im not defending mga hid users but sana intindihin natin sila, this is a free country, i for one got a better perspective from the people who posted here. no harm intended but atleast now im more aware na.i for one love the porma of hid plus its advantages but the reason i installed these hids, even the fog lights are hids is because ayaw ko mabengkong yung rims ko, i have 18, 19 n 20s kasi sa cars. unlike my pajero na mataas n 33in tires, why bother with hids dba.
