BOCAUE, Bulacan — Carjacking incidence may have dropped in Quezon City, but it’s on the rise in Bulacan.

Yesterday, two carjacking incidents were recorded in the province, one in Pulilan town and the other in this town.

Police said a black Toyota RAV-4 (NAN-15) owned by businessman Marlon Melencio, 30, was forcibly taken by three unidentified armed men at Brgy. Poblacion, Pulilan town around 1:30 a.m. yesterday.

Melencio was onboard the vehicle and was maneuvering when the suspects with drawn fire arms stopped him and drove his vehicle away.

About the same time, a black Honda City (XHM-387), was also forcibly taken from Romina Santiago y Reyes by four unidentified armed men.

Superintendent Sheldon Jacaban, head of the provincial intelligence investigation branch of the provincial police office said the car was actually owned by a certain Maritess Hozmizo y Santiago who resides at Villarica Homes, Lolomboy, Bocaue.

He said a green Honda CRV blocked the path of Santiago and ordered her to get off at gun point.

Santiago told police that the suspects were armed with M-16 assault rifles and caliber 45 pistols.

Earlier, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) was stolen at Brgy. Turo here just after New Year.

Sources said that the owner of the SUV was buying pyrotechnics when unidentified men boarded the vehicle and drove away.

Watched the news last night about the stolen Honda City. Yeah, apparently carnapper/carjackers have relocated somewhat. I do not in any way condone what they do, pero sana man lang kunin na lang nila yung sasakyan at wag na nila saktan yung mga pasahero.

I was in Bulacan(Marilao-Sta. Maria-San Jose Del Monte) over the weekend and I was thinking about this thread. It will be very hard for the carnappers to get away fast because the condition of the road in that area is just too appalling!...

Unless of course, the authorities are looking at the other way.....

A little bit OT - My cousin was kidnapped last year while tending to his farm in Bulacan. To his surprise, the mastermind turned out to be one of the town's (or city's?) highest elected officals. The guy had the gall to show his face when he demanded that my cousin sign over the farm's deed to his name.

Fortunately for my cousin, the deed was not in his name so he couldn't personally sign it over. Instead his family ended up paying a huge amount for his freedom.

So I would have to disagree the authorities may be looking the other way - they might very well be monitoring everything.

The family has been threatened with worse reprisal should they report to the proper authorities. Not knowing which authorities to trust complicates reporting the case. Moreover, even if they know the right one, who is to protect them from further violence?

As is quite common with other kidnapping cases, migrating abroad seems to be the best option. Of course, that means shutting down their businesses and rendering their workers jobless.

Am not familiar with bong revilla movies but yes what happened could sardonically be described as life imitating art (if bong revilla movies can be considered as such) since it is quite difficult to believe unless you heard it directly from the victim's family and were involved in family discussions.

And unlike the make pretend world of movie-making, this one has real-life and potentially disastrous and irreversible results, not to mention the rippling effects of workers losing their jobs when company owners decide to migrate abroad to avoid becoming victims again.
