August 18th, 2006 11:29 PM #11Supposedly, Princess Diana and Dodi were found not wearing seatbelts. Either they did not put them on, or the belts had been sabotaged (pin filed down) as the Princess supposedly was meticuluous in always wearing them.
Seems that no amount of engineered crumple zones and interior padding of the Mercedes could mitigate the collision of their bodies with the front seats. Supposedly ~70g deceleration without belt, and would have been a more survivable ~30g with belt on.

All occupants should wear seatbelts. Nasa row 4 na ko ng MB100 naka-seatbelt pa din ako.
I'm very particular about having the one seating behind my (driver's) seat buckle up. Because in a crash, if the one behind me is not restrained properly, his/her weight can crush be in between my seat and the seatbelt that is restraining me.

August 20th, 2006 04:20 PM #16Objects in the back that could become projectiles should also be secured/repositioned. Especially ones with enough mass to deliver a substantial blow to the head, or the right shape to decapitate.
