i've seen a few civics and corollas with black engine hoods. while my gut tells me most of the samples i've seen were done for purely porma reasons, something tells me me istorya behind it. pakikwento naman sa isang hamak na newbie B)

Supposed to be carbon fibre yung hoods (kaya black) pero IMHO, mas madami ang nagpa-paint lang ng black para maki-uso. In short, papansin lang talaga. No offense sa mga tinamaan (if ever).Originally Posted by badkuk

O kaya nabangga, pinalitan ng hood pero spray paint na lang ng flat black.
Pero madaming naka Civic na talagang carbon fiber ang mga hood nila. Dami ko nakikita sa macapagal pag weekend but the majority of the cars with black hood does not have the real thing.
Actually, kaya naman carbon fiber ang ginagamit nilang hood is para light weight and it's actually for "racing use" and syempre mas maporma.
most of my friends na naka fibre hoods ay naka body color namani think its about projecting. but hey, kanya kanyang trip lang yan
sa mga eroplano naman they use it as 'anti glare'...just a thought
PS: di maganda magreflect ng init ang flat black.
what i don't get is those people who sport real/fake CF hoods - then have heavy speakers and whatnots in the trunk.
iniisip ko nung una, sa tunay na blacktops is that the black paint/hood is meant to better withstand the higher temps that the installed engine would generate B)
hmm i guess mas halatang 'carbon fiber' ung hood pag black, instead of matching the body color...
regarding black hoods...
in certain types of racing, some teams use painted flat black hoods because the sunlight would glare into the driver's eyes in certain angles.
others use unpainted carbon fiber hoods to reduce the weight...
And other owners just use black hoods just to have that "racing" look for their car.

sorry po kung may mga tinamaan... ricey lang talaga..
may nakita ako na ibang parts ng underbone MC
balot ng sticker na carbon fiber look,
baka iyon ibang hood ng Civic or Corolla ay binalutan lang ng sticker
Just a thought. Diba black absorbs more heat among all the colours? In some way nakakatulong ba ito sa pagmaintain ng heat sa engine bay?
Baka supposed to look like carbon fiber lang kaya sila naka-black engine hood. Looks are subjective, depende sa tumitingin.Well, ricey or not, yun ang gusto nila eh, so I guess we can't fault them at that. Peace!
depende lng yan kung ORIG fiber glass na hood aba mahala yan. hehe.. pero kung paint lng eh wag nlang kaya
if paint lang and while they're at it, paint na din nila yun bubong and back compartment.
