February 23rd, 2006 07:57 PM #1I measured two different routes:
Route A: 9.5 kms, total time it takes to travel, 20 minutes. Much less traffic, frequent fifth gear opportunities.
Route B: 7 kms, total time it takes to travel, 30 minutes. Mainly 3rd gear, with occasional 4th gear, very few 5th gear.
With fuel prices this high, which would be better, overall?

the faster you can get to your destination the less fuel you use up. Look for routes with very few idles (traffic), start - stop, acceleration ... maganda routes na constant ang speed mo.
oh, my answer is option (A)Last edited by albert_b; February 23rd, 2006 at 10:19 PM.

If you can maintain a steadier speed, then you get better economy. For sure A is the more efficient route.

February 23rd, 2006 11:51 PM #8how about incidental expenses, like tire wear, spare parts, plus the extra kilometers your car puts in. Yung binigay ko, one way lang, in my case, I get to travel those distances at least twice, sometimes up to 4 times a day, so at 4 times, the difference of 2.5km means extra 10 kms per day din, would it still be worth it?

I choose "C"...take the bus. LOL
I've always thought that the less time you spend in the lower gears the less fuel you end up using...choose "A".
