THE UNIFIED Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), popularly known as the number coding traffic scheme in Metro Manila, will be lifted starting April 6 until June 2, an official of the Metro Manila Development Authority announced Wednesday.
Angelito Vergel de Dios, MMDA Traffic Operations Center executive director, said only Makati City would continue implementing the traffic scheme since the volume of vehicles was not expected to change here, unlike those in other parts of Metro Manila.

The lifting of the UVVRP is based on a study by the MMDA’s Traffic Engineering Center (TEC) in the summers of 2004 and 2005 that showed as much as a 30-percent reduction in the number of vehicles on the road during the summer months, De Dios said.

De Dios said that this 30-percent drop was above the reduction in vehicular volume resulting from the UVVRP, which is at 20 percent.

Makati, on the other hand, is a busy district with a minimal number of schools, so a UVVRP suspension during summer will not work, De Dios said

Crap! I live in QC but work in Ft. Boni. Unfortunately, I have to pass through the Republic of Makati (kalayaan in C5, or Guadalupe in EDSA) going to work.

Baka nga in the near future, gumawa na sila ng sariling currency at language eh. Baka nga next year, ma-feature na sila sa Lonely Planet or World Trekker. Baka sa Ripley's pa nga.

BTT: (taken from the news) according to Makati City officials, their traffic management bureau does not expect the volume of vehicles traveling to and around Makati (especially the MBD) to decrease thus their decision not to participate in the suspension of the UVVRP.

I wonder how he came up with that number.

Please kindly confirm... I heard on the news that you can pass safely along the stretch of C-5 & EDSA as UVVRP is also suspended along these roads.

    SAYS MMDA
No change in Metro traffic with lifting of number coding

THE first day of the two-month number coding suspension saw the usual traffic volume on the metro’s roads, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Thursday.

MMDA Traffic Operations Center Executive Director Angelito Vergel de Dios said there was no notable change in traffic volume when the agency lifted the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) in most of Metro Manila on Thursday.

The MMDA suspended the implementation of the UVVRP starting April 3 until June 2.

Only Makati City retained the traffic reduction scheme as it said that the school break would not affect traffic volume in the city.

Ungoy!!!
