it should be in the user's manual.

generally, don't rev hard, dont stay in a particular speed for an extended period, dont use it to tow a vehicle etc. easy driving lang in other words.

yan yung mga nakalagay sa manual ko.

    Mag-schedule ka ng malayu-layong trip.

A week after we got our brand-new Adventure, we went on a whole-day trip to Tagaytay; this aside from our daily Antipolo-Quezon City-Antipolo drive. Excited kasi umabot ng 1,000kms eh.

nabasa ko sa manual nga ganito din, pero bakit "dont stay..." d ibig sabihin u do a wide range of different speeds? how about the rpm? and pano ang extended period, how long is the extended period?

mali ata ang breaking in ko... i stay in 2000-3000 rpm (but 3000 is minsan lang and quick, less than 40secs) in various speeds depending on the gear im in. its an A/T FYI.

so ok lang ba o mali, im at 500 na..

I've read somewhere in the internet, to break-in an engine properly, rev it hard, but slowly.

So put it in 5th gear from nought to red line!

personally i do it in stages.. like for the first 400km or so, i dont go beyond 3k rpm. and i dont stay too long at a certain rpm. example when on nlex, i would switch between 85-95kph in 5 minute intervals. then i would squeeze in a burst of 100-110 kph for a minute or two then back down to 85-95.

after that i'd progressively increase my top speed and rpm to probly 2/3 of redline (or anywhere between 120-150kph).

agree din ako dun sa dont work out the car too much (ex. towing heavy stuff, running fast with a full load, etc..)

or do what drag racers in a hurry do. fill the tank with gas, get on the strip, then do launches on 1st gear to redline, then release the gas (dont brake) until 1k rpm, then step on it again to redline, then release till 1k rpm until you consume the full tank. then change oil and filters

how about the myth of the Baguio trip for break-in? hindi ba makakasama yun paakyat sa break-in? even antipolo or Tagaytay? diba stressful yun para sa Makina?

ginagawa kasi namin sa break-in sa new car or newly overhauled engine e biyahe from Makati to Santa Rosa to Tagaytay to Cavite then Manila and back to Makati ng madaling araw while praying na di makasalubong ng white lady or masiraan dun sa madilim na parte ng Santa Rosa to Tagaytay kakatakot dun e..

Sa akin, no choice since sa Antipolo talaga kami nakatira, so paglabas pa lang ng casa (Diamond Motors Quezon Ave.), pa-full tank agad sa Petron, tapos sundo kay misis sa office, then uwi na sa bundok.

Wala namang naging adverse effects sa makina (as far as we can tell).

contrary to popular myth, you should also "break-in" the mid to high rpm zone of your vehicle (4K rpm and up).

just don't do jack rabbit starts though... no hard revving... just accelerate properly without going to the next gear.

you should see how the car's engine is revved & accelerated in ford's plant (in a stationary machine though).

papano kung AT? should i keep it in 2 or L para maabot ko yun higher rpm's?

"Most modern car engines are broken in at the factory, before assembly. Therefore the old tradition of breaking in a new car doesn't apply anymore. Just drive as you normally would drive and treat the car the way you would treat anything else of value."

eto mga tol nabasa ko sa wiki. nag-aaply din ba to sa mga currently models ng sasakyan ngyon dto sa pinas?

Factory break-in or not, it certainly doesn't hurt to exercise prudence in driving your new purchase for the next few weeks or so.

IMO Kasabihan na lang yang break in para maipasyal at ma-road test. The
best is gamitin mo ng gamitin properly within the warranty period to exactly
monitor not only the engine but all the components. Engine wise, revving it
without exceeding the redline is preferred para mainat.
Once warranty expires there’s going to be no choice but totally ingatan na
    or else.

once mag-expire ang warranty pwde ba mag-avail ng extension or renewal? with a fee i guess.

similar to appliances / electronics? i guess none but seriously if there
is ayos yun. the bottomline kasi after the warranty expires is lahat sagot na
natin. so dun mag-a-accumulate yung mga stress at ingat na ginawa natin
    while covered pa.

Yung dealership na nagbenta sa akin, they offered me an additional 2-year limited warranty, on top of the standard 3 years. For a fee, of course.

Hindi ko na kinuha, kasi ubos na yung pera ko sa unit, rehistro at insurance pa lang eh.

    yup... ganun na nga.

just don't keep it revving only a certain engine speed... or i-redline mo lagi.
