on your way, kng marating mo ang town ng sta maria ilocos sur, mejo nakakalito ang daan ksi pa -Y na sya. afaik, malapit sya sa elementary school. dun ka sa left dumaan. sundan mo lang yung hi-way, dadating ka rin dun.. kng alanganin, just ask for directions.. mababait kming mga ilocano hehehe...Happy trip bro and safe journey!!
i suggest that you get yourself a map. madali lang naman ang byahe papuntang north. dere derecho lang yun![]()
goodluck sa trip..longanisa ha :P
dapat condisyon talaga ang sasakyan..
Just follow the NLEX then exit in Sta Ines, Mabalacat straight until you reach Tarlac City then straight until you reach Urdaneta City, Pangasinan then straight until you reach Sison, Pangasinan. You'll see a road going Kennon Rd. but take the left road intead until you reach Agoo, La Union, San Fernando City La, Union then straight until you reach Candon Ilocos Sur, then straight until you reach the town of Bantay Ilocos Sur, then turn left to reach the town proper of Vigan City. It's so easy just follow the major hi-way (Mc Arthur Hiway) where the big bus are passing. More or less you'll be travelling 7-8 hrs. Good luck and safe driving.
... if the 8 ~ 10 hour drive from Manila to Vigan is too long for one driver ... and a car full of kids ; please recommend a good place to break the journey and stay overnight.
thanks.
road construction ongoing in the following ilocos sur towns:
candon
santiago
san esteban
sta. maria
traffic slowdown is expected in those places especially during daytime.
If I were you, I'd drive straight to Vigan..... Stop for breaks na lang sa mga gasoline stations along the way....
I drove straight from South MM, where we live, to Laoag, stopping only for gas, call of nature, snacks and stretch last July.... Road was generally okay then, except for Candon(?), where they're doing road repair..... Sana okay na ito

i don't think an overnight is necessary. just leave the earliest possible time you can and just take breaks as needed.
tarlac rest stops
urdaneta: you can take a break at mikey177's la pia taza cafe
rosario, la union (caltex/shell/petron within spitting distance of each other)
san fernando rest stops
btw, i opine that too many breaks just make your trip longer and makes you tire earlier.
two years ago ... we went this route .
overnight in baguio ... break at Vigan ... and onto pagudpud.
we left baguio around 9 am ... had lunch in Vigan past 1 pm ... and arrived in Pagudpud just before sun-down.
may try the direct to Vigan route next time ... as it has been suggested here.
just make sure your car is in tip top shape specially that u have passengers. dalan mo sana ako ng bagnet ha!
right on. it's 2.5 to 5 hours, depending on the driver's speed / road conditions / time of day.
Sarap nyan. Diretso na sa pagudpud. It's only 150+ km from vigan.
dont forget the empanada, longganisa and bagnet.
