my wife and i are finally buying a car!. at first we were decided on the getz because of the price, but are having second thoughts after checking the mazda 3 and civic (paano kasi pag lumaki na ang kids, baka sumikip na masyado pag getz kinuha namin). problem is, medyo tight budget namin but i dont want to regret not buying the "bigger" cars after a few years. engine performance isnt much of a factor kasi we are both novice drivers, but i want a car that will last. help!

If you need bigger space, look at the Toyota Avanza 1.3J and the Suzuki APV. Note that these will use more gas than the Getz. They are both less expensive than the Civic or mazda 3.

Price for the Avanza is around 592,000. It can seat 6 to 7 people, almost no cargo space left. Or 4 to 5 persons with a huge trunk. Fuel consumption will be around 8 to 10 kms/liter city driving depending on the driver and traffic.

The APV should be within the ball park. Its an 8 seater van. Not sure if they still offer 2 years free maintenance. My cousin has one and he gets 7 kms/liter city

For more info please do a search. Both cars have been disscused a lot and have their own threads.

To save on the cost of fuel, you can convert the Toyota Avanza to use LPG as fuel. You can inquire at your Toyota dealer if they would still honor the warranty if you install a LPG kit and from which dealer would be preferred to retain the car's warranty.

GH, good suggestion yung LPG. If you do go this route, you will have to sacrifice the 3rd row to give space for the tank.

If it's just two kids, you could look at the Jazz. But if you have a family of five (and are expecting more), them maybe it's the Avanza for you.

wag mo muna problemahin yun paglaki ng kids, get the getz and make it your back-up car paglaki nila. the goal should be one for you and one for the wife. mas importante present -> cashflow.

we have three kids ages 1,3 and 6 (plus one yaya). we have a short garage so the apv is out of the equation because it wont fit. whichever car we may choose, we decided to get an automatic. tamad kami mag drive eh.

kung wala sana c yaya ok na ok ang getz kahit na lumaki cla they will be still comfortable seating at the back.. excited na rin me dumating ung getz ko hehe hopefully this week

you can wait for the new toyota VIOS.. I think it will be out in the mid of august, base on the information that I have the price is 525k mejo malayo sa price ng getz but you will never go wrong with toyota.

575k ang starting ng Vios. It's a bit wider and has better legroom, but it's still basically a five seater.

The cars with the biggest seating space in the subcompact class are the City/Jazz (Jazz has slightly better headroom) and the Yaris/Vios. They're nearly identical, though the Toyota platform has slightly higher cushions. They're much softer, too... which is better on short trips, but not as supportive on long ones. But the City/Jazz have much more in terms of cargo room versus their Toyota competitors, and better automatics. The Toyotas have the benefit of being newer, and having more torque than the Hondas, which helps overcome the sluggishness of their 4-speed ATs.

of all the automatics we liked, the getz is the cheapest at 578k, then the jazz at 690k. the vios is 765k, but at that price i'd rather get the mazda3 at 799k. ang hirap mag decide!

Your choice of an (1) AT na (2) 6-7 seater at (3) less than 600K are the factors making it difficult for you. I'd suggest you take out 1 of the 3 factors para mas madali. If it were me, I'd take out the first -- kasi it will improve BOTH (2) and (3), sacrificing only a little practice on your part.

although price is a factor, we have not limited our choice to below 600k. the question, i feel, is wether its more practical to buy cheap first then upgrade after a few more years/experience, or to buy the car you wanted all along and hope we dont damage it too much during our 'learning' years.

the 1.3 CVT jazz would be appropriate for your family and small garage. you get a shift-shock free automatic, the 3 small kids and the yaya can be accomodated in the rear bench, the car will fit in the garage, and you get a spacious luggage compartment to boot. you can upgrade to an 8-seater SUV/MPV later on when the kids grow bigger. and oh, if you and your wife are still learning how to drive, i seriously recommend that you get driving lessons from a reputable school with thier own car. this way you can avoid damaging your own vehicle and preserve its resale value. driving lessons are also so much cheaper compared to having you car fixed if it figures in an accident. happy car hunting!

my mom is going to contribute to our car budget but she wants us to get a new one. i would like to get a 2nd hand muna, but being the novices we are, we wouldnt know if what we are getting is fair value. sa itsura lang halos ang basis ng mga napili namin eh.

Ah ganun ba? Get the cheaper ones na lang. Panigurado mababanga ka(o ikaw babanggain) a couple of times during ur learning stage. Para mababa lang participation mo pag claim ng insurance.

Do u mean modding when u say upgrade? Ayus din.
