I know a lot of old people who just know how to drive, but aren't smooth about it at all.

    - Doesn't know how to rev match when downshifting, leading to jerkiness
    - Abrupt and staggered steering inputs, disrupting the car's balance
    - Poor modulation of brakes when stopping, very strong recoil when approaching a full stop

These are taught in proper driving schools, and these are universal skills that are applicable even in racing.

I've also had bad experiences with old people driving my cars... thats why i prefer to drive my own cars [emoji1]

when gramps drove my car a few years back; at the stoplight, he suddenly revved the car very high then slammed it to drive (its an automatic). the tires were screeching and the car was shaking, i was so scared! and the way he cornered, akala ko mag ro-roll over kami! my whole body was literally nakadikit sa side! maybe he just wanted to bring back the glory days of being young... sorry, OT na hehehe...

when i was younger, i prided myself in my smooth-driving skills.
now, i am older, i find my skills aren't as smooth as before.
it's not the poorly-learned driving skills, as it is the degenerative changes of olding age.

Hehehe,- I just remembered commenting something to our Tito who was driving his favorite Volvo in NJ, and I was one of his passengers (together with his loving wife, my loving wifey and my in-law)....

I jokingly told him that he was doing the famous CA rolling stop in an all-way stop (intersection).

He never talked with me the whole day (that day only)... However, up to this day, I still regret making that "joke-comment"....

    My Car,- My Rules!

Not with one of my oldest first cousins, who I drove for last Monday (holiday)... He was visiting us from NA...

Upon entering our vehicle,- he instantly changed the setting of our AC,- thermostat and blower speed and commented that the AC air is "hilaw" and that I should have the refrigerant (he said freon) checked and when was the last time I had it refilled (as the refrigerant should be good only for 3 years)?

I could only smile and shake my head with the situation I was in...

    All was well,- ended well...

    Yes bro.

And, I even paid for his family's dinner (and the rest of his siblings, our other first cousins and their immediate family members, too)...

My only consolation bro,- is that he took another cousin's vehicle on our way back from Tagaytay that night....

Good luck to my other cousin who drove for him... he he he....

This particular topic was not covered much by my instructor sa A1 considering na I enrolled for a 15 hour class with many 2 hour sessions. Anyways, had to self study about it (read online articles and even watch those how to drive videos sa youtube).

So far sa 1 year and x months experience ko in driving, I had 3 accidents. 2 accident sa garage while parking and moving out our vios and montero (damn, learned the hard way na iba idrive ang suv sa sedan) then one involving a third party pero minor damage lang (butas sa bumper niya). Oh well those accidents were during my newbie days and lessons were learned.

BTT I really hate how our new driver drives our Montero, hindi maalaga sa kotse [emoji19]

that's very bad for the tranny. the less harmful way to launch is to hold the brake pedal and then rev, but neither is recommended.

i know its bad, i learned it the hard way... the next day after gramps did that the car didnt want to move immediately anymore pag ilagay mo sa drive when the engine is cold... nagka-delay! luckily, change of atf and flushing solved it. somehow...

EDIT: i wont do those stuff to launch an automatic car, i just floor the gas then the tires would chirp a bit, then off i go!

Our racing mentor, coach Vip Isada, is a senior citizen already but I doubt I could ever drive as smoothly as he does.

    My car rule:
    1. No eating - but usually di nasusunod kasi di pwede magutong ang mga babies.. Vaccum na lang agad pag dating ng bahay, pero alam nila na ayaw ko may kumakain sa loob ng car.
    2. Bring your own bottle - atleast sa family ko.
    3. Wag malikot habang nagddrive ako, or wag ako kakausapin or bawal madistract
    6. Naka seatbelt dapat yung front passenger, pag magulo yung kido ko, magseseatbelt sya.. Kaya dapat behave lang.
    7. Paguuwi ng pangasinan, dapat dala ko ang bike ko(very very important)
    12. Bawal si baby sa harap- other than malikot, delikads.
    13. Bawal magyosi or uminom other than tubig, bawal magvape.. Wala akong pakialam sa reason, basta bawal mag vape sa loob mg kotse.
    14. Magsabi pag kelangan magstop, give an ample time.
    15. In all agreement sa lahat ng sasakay na "Pogi ang driver" , well ako ako ang driver.. Hahaha

waze is my "best-er" friend hehehe

kapag friend ang makikisabay sakin hindi ko talaga sagot ang gas kahit malapit lng or malayo. no gas/gas money, no sabay! hahahaha
