Thanks in advance!

What specific automatic tranny?
What new car are you referring to? What was your old car? Maybe that would help in tracking down the attributes you are referring to.

All ats drop gear naman if the rpm is to high. It will protect itselft from stupid drivers.

Most newer automatic transmission will coast the vehicle when you release the accelerator ... this is done on purpose to conserve fuel ... they won't "hold" a gear like before ... most will also upshift at the soonest possible time (again for fuel efficiency) ... unless you switch to Sport mode (if there is one) ...

There are A/Ts that are more advanced than others, depending on market segment and generation.
For example, my 07' Civic has Grade Logic Control and will hold or select a lower gear when rolling down a long hill in D when you apply some braking. This engages engine braking to assist in regulating your downhill speed and to not overheat the brakes.
On the other hand, my 2015 Innova 2.5G will not automatically shift down in D when rolling downhill. To do engine braking, I need to manually shift to D3 or 2.
These are just two examples I have first hand info of. The technology does not depend on whether it's CVT, traditional A/T with a torque converter, or if it's a DCT, etc. The automatic gear changing is implemented in the ECM/PCM software.

That's clearer.
Sa Honda Jazz namin, in Sports mode, it will shift down to S1 when you stop. Though, I stand by what I said about it being implemented differently from one car maker/model/year to another. Baka ganun talaga behavior ng Fortuner. But for as long as the actual gear is on 1st when you stop, I think it should be fine.
If you haven't, check mo rin yung manual. Maybe may code/combinations na dapat gawin to unlock or change certain A/T features. Like I said, everything is done in software na kasi.

Yung INVECS tranny ng montero kapag naka-manual mode ka, for example nasa 4th gear ka tapos bigla kang nag-stop automatic na siya mag shift down sa 1st gear.

nag cha Change ng gear yan, hindi lang indicated. to be sure try it sa highway pag sinagad mo yung gas you'll hear the tranny go down then look at the indicator kung bumaba din.
