May 16th, 2007 06:19 AM #1What is/are the best ways to increase acceleration without voiding warranty? Baka kasi makabili ako ng first AT ko eh alam ko isa ito sa weaknesses ng AT lalo kung walang sportshift. Hope you can give your 2 cents worth.

And only do it if it's still within the break-in period. Otherwise you may have to take it back for repairs. Just read the manual and know the individual gears' speed limits so you won't over rev the engine.

Intake, Headers and Exhaust, technically shouldn't void your warranty (as per US court ruling), but some dealerships take any excuse to deny it. Exhaust work from the catalytic converter back shouldn't void anything but your exhaust warranty.
Lighter mags and tires will void your mag warranty. They'll try to claim it against your suspension warranty, but if you can show that the combined weight is less than stock and there are no fitment issues, you can take them to court over it. Lighter mags will improve low-speed pickup, and every 3-5 pounds of weight reduction from the mags will equal about 1 hp more. Not much, but it helps.
Otherwise, there's not much else you can do. You can lighten the vehicle further by taking out the spare, but since a full-sized spare only weighs about forty pounds, that's not much difference.

Sa AT? You'll notice better throttle response (as long as it's a good filter), but the power increase will be small.

speedlab's CAI for the mazda3 1.6L adds 12hp at 4500rpm!!
and dyno-tested at that.
best 11,000 you ever spent. am thinking about it but afraid of the warranty issues. the mazda3 1.6L sure needs that 12hp..

IMO - a muffler is the probably the SAFEST and only upgrade that you can do without causing your service advisor to raise his/her eyebrow when a warranty job is needed.
You can also put in a drop-in free-flow air-filter that you can replace with the stock paper filter everytime you drop by for the PMS.
