Question lang po, I`ll be buying my FIRST EVER (yey!) car this month... 2000 Honda Civic Vtec po siya... the problem is, emerald green yung color... eh, my friends are saying na ipa re-paint ko siya into another color...
erm... pang "tatay" raw kasi emerald green... what do you think guys? Should i stay with the original emerald green paint or palitan ko? Ano ba mas bagay sakin?

btw, i`m only 22, single...male (don`t be misled by my account name =D)... and I work in a bank. =D

    Thanks guys! =D

I am also not fond of the "Emerald Green" color of the Civic.

May binabagayan lang ang green kasi like Jaguars or a Benz.

if its still in perfect condition, the paint i mean then just stick with your original paint .. nothing beats an original paint car ... just have it detailed and maintained regulary then your ok kaysa naman sa maganda nga kulay ng kotse mo laspag naman .. whats the point ?

pero pag masama na kulay ng kotse mo then by any means go on repaint the car ... mas presentable rin ang makinis na kotse sa kotseng masama nag itsura ...

color? the usual, white black .. RED for me is the best

Find a way to become color blind, and it will magically turn red

Also relatively larger vehicles such as SUVs and AUVs.

Here's one thread that discusses complaints about Honda's factory paint finish. Read around, and then decide if you want to keep the stock paint or change it altogether.

If the paint's still in good condition, I'll spend my money on other mods.

umm, aside from some scratches, ok pa naman yung paint niya. =D

thanks for your opinions guys, medyo na-bobother lang talaga ako sa mga sinasabi ng mga friends ko na ang "green" and "maroon" ay kulay na pang "tatay"... hehe. =D

btw, meron ba kayong experiences wherein nagpa-repaint kayo ng car, tapos pumangit pa lalo ang kalabasan? =(

As I've said, 'nasa nagdadala iyan'. It doesn't matter kung 'pang-tatay, pang-nanay, o pang-lola' ang kulay. Nasa pagdadala lang iyan.

Yes, repainting can just be a source of more problems if you are not sure of what you are doing or you hired the wrong people to do it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it ika nga.

Pormahan mo na lang para hindi na siya 'pang-tatay'. Pero tama si Otep, nasa nagdadala naman yan. If you can't get over the paint, make sure to canvass for a reputable shop para hindi sumama ang pagkagawa ng paint mo. Personally, I'd rather have a 'daddy-looking' but well-maintained paint job instead of a snazzy-colored but rushed and awful one.

And with a repaint, hindi lang paint quality babantayan mo. Pati quality ng pag-disassemble at reassemble. Madaming variables. Not something you'd get into if you were a newbie.

Sa UST lang nung time ko ang daming mga college students with repainted cars na kasuklam-suklam ang quality. The price of 'porma' I guess.

Just be comfortable with what you're driving. I can drive a pink Honda Jazz and have no qualms about it. On some days I drive a Picanto whose paint job only reminds me of 'sipon'. Pero ok lang din. No problemo.

You are right...bihira lang ang emerald green and contrary to what others may say, it does look good on a Civic. Also, changing color somehow diminishes the resale value of your car especially during the haggling stage. Lastly, had some bad experience on repaints myself especially when reassembling all those trims, weatherstrips, door panels. You'll have ill-fitting locks, trims, missing or wrong screws, etc. Not worth the hassle. Believe me, you'll have that sinking feeling after.

I would have the exterior thoroughly detailed and with the money I save from repainting, upgrade the stereo or mags or put in some engine mods.

welcome! be prepared for certain tsikoteers thinking you're a girl and hitting on you

it is a terrible idea to repaint a car that has an otherwise perfectly good factory finish. the tolerances and cleanliness of the factory process is pretty much impossible to replicate in the aftermarket. if you really hate the color, then my suggestion is to buy a different car rather than repaint.

just my opinion. based on your post you havent ask the right person whether to paint it or not - you. does the color bother you? if so, go for repaint. if not, i agree with the other posts and spend the money on other mods. maybe black wheels, clear corners, remove backseat for friends, etc.

Wag ka papabuyo sa mga barkada, nothing beats original paint, I pa detail mo lang yan tapos tireblack ok na yan. Pag pina repaint mo yan as others have said baka lalo pumangit. Kung pang tatay ngayon, baka maging pangtotoy na tinipid. Diba mas nakakhiya yun?

Pag nagsawa ka at gusto mo ibenta baka mahirapan ka isalya kasi hindi na original paint.
