Yeah its a semi-flop too in my books even though I own one... Its cheap, but its not selling well...

That's a harsh way to judge a flop vehicle uls... So basta hindi #1 sa category nya flop na agad? I wouldn't say the Honda City is a flop even though the Vios is beating it in sales nor is the Honda Accord a flop even though the Camry beats it...

For me flop is talagang bombtastic failure of epic proportions! Yeah like the Suzuki SX4 or the Kia Soul...

    hehe

di naman flop kung number 2 or 3

pero if the dealer has to mark down the price to get the cars moving, flop yun

I agree that Audi and Porsche are doing well. However, how many Ferraris and Maseratis do you see on the road now? Its ultra-high end but it didn't fare very well here when they opened a local dealership.

both brands have been acquired by the soong group....same company that sells land rovers and jaguars

based from what I read, unlike before for ferrari at least, they used to acquire it from an asian distribution hub in singapore but without the knowledge of the mother company of the Scuderia, the singaporeans is pricing the prancing horses ridiculously, so imagine that an ultimately expensive car being priced ridiculously high is equals to shutdown in some markets just like what happen here few years back....But I'm not sure if they own that dealership in adb ave. ortigas....anyone can confirm?

but unlike today, they're getting the units directly from italy which I expect would be priced fairly...so expect to turn your heads like an owl whenever your rolling in the streets of makati and the fort this coming years....

So by your definition even the Lancer EX is a flop cause it has some very high discounts, presumably to move inventory...

    RE: Maserati and Ferrari

Willy Soong has a lot of top level connections (read: owners of the company)

    He sells Ferreti Yachts too.

diba it took quite some time for the market to absorb the EX lancers?

na-introduce sa local market ang lancer EX how many years ago?

even now, there are still not that many EX lancers on the road compared to civics and corollas

there are grey market importers of Ferraris

the dealer isnt the only place you can buy a Ferrari

    ---

there is a high end market here

don't underestimate the wealth of locals

now that it's becoming accepted to flaunt wealth, expect the the high end market to grow

The Cedia Lancer is also a flop (when it was the main Lancer and not being used as a sub compact fighter)... Definitely the 1st ZZ Altis and Civic ES beat the hell out of it...

But the SOUL 1.6L is now selling at 800k++ price range. Kia reps said they got the 2.0L and than 1.6L wasn't available then yet. Sayang lang, if they launched (a year ago) with both the 1.6L and 2.0L or simply with the 1.6L model (without the expensive 2.0L model), it might have gotten a better reception with the buyers.

Still even at just P800K no one seems to be enticed by the Kia Soul... Have never seen one in the roads for such a long time... Could also be the styling that turned a lot of people off?

Can the Mazda Miata or MX-5 as locally known be considered a flop??

Certainly most people who probably get a Genesis Coupe over it... I hardly see one at all...

I have seen a few already, all were the 1.6L variant.

Typical buyers of this wouldn't be too attached to brands like Toyota or Honda.

If I was offered this car when I was younger (ie: college), I would love it.
