Mga fellow tsikoteers, I'm just curious, what was the first brand of car that landed in our shore?
sa mga mods, paki merge na lang po kung may thread na about this...

hmm, if we're talking about spanish times pa(ung hand-cranked pa ung pagstart ng motor), i'm guessing either ford or some european badge.
if we're talking modern...who made those military willys jeeps?
Cito Beltran's car could be the earliest surviving car in the Philippines, i'm not sure if its exactly the first one that arrived in the Philippiones.Originally Posted by FXT
Based on my research, the 1st automobile that arrived in the Philippines was a "Georges Richard" imported by La Estrella del Norte, it was owned by Dr. Miciano in 1900.
The 1904 Richard-Brassier of Cito Beltran was brought by La Estrella del Norte and sold to Augusto and Demetrio Tuazon.
One thing common with the info of these two early automobiles, they were both imported to the country by La Estrella del Norte.
Richard-Brassier is the successor of Georges Richard, the name change was done in 1902 after designer Brasier joined the company.
Sample of a 1900 Georges Richard

The first automobile dealership(importer) in the Country was Bachrach Motor Co, in Manila, they were an affiliate of Ford Motor Company, they opened in 1907.

Hindi pala yung naka-display sa fort santiago? Kala ko yun ang first....
First Presidential Car yata yun? Kay Aguinaldo ba or Quezon?Originally Posted by Eismann
Bachrach Motor Company ay later named Mantrade(yata...) at Nissan na sila ngayon these days.
Most of the Presidential Cars now belongs to Cito Beltran.
It is in his place in Lipa City.
Mantrade became a Ford dealer in 1918... prior to these they had a general merchandising business(cotton goods, gas engines, marine engines etc.) By this time I beleive Bachrach Motor Co. switched to another brand.Originally Posted by eggman

No brand were montioned. But judging from the photo above, it looks like the were Chryslers(at least thats what the cars look like).
I have a newer 1933 advertisement of Bachrach Motor Co. by this time they were selling Austins, both American and English, at the bottom it says (Sole P.I. Distributor).
Check out this price, American Austin "The Coupe" P1,200.

Another 1933 ad, this time a Ford, at the bottom it says MANILA TRADING & SUPPLY COMPANY. "120 Ford Service stations throughout the Philippines".
Mantrade?

Wow!
I dunno why but whenever I look at old pictures and ads (like pre '70s) of Manila life, I feel na medyo asenso pa tayo at the time. Iba na talga ngayon...

old Manila is like the New Makati, Eastwood, Greenhills today. 20 years later pangit na din pumunta sa mga lugar na 'to coz of overpopulation. just like what happened to Manila.Originally Posted by ryan

tingin ko talaga Batangas ang the best place to be in the future bec. of the Batangas pier.
