The other chinese maker of VW vehicles(FAW-VW) seems to be more interested in launching "real" new models compared to Shanghai-VW.

Here is their latest model, the VW Sagitar, which is basically a chinese made all-new VW Jetta.

It would be interesting to see this here... a lower priced all-new VW model made in china.
Now if only PGA Cars could save VW from APC like what they did with Audi...

    FAW VW Sagitar 1.6L (149,800 yuan - 162,800 yuan)

FAW VW Sagitar 2.0L (starts at 173,800 yuan)

Volkswagen Sagitar brings latest technology to Chinese car market

FAW-Volkswagen presented its new top of the line model Sagitar in Shanghai yesterday . The first two cars were handed over to the Chinese gold medallists of the Torino Winter Olympics, Ms. Wang Meng and Mr. Han Xiaopeng.

FAW-Volkswagen introduces its new flagship vehicle with a high competitive starting price of 173,800 RMB. The company already received 9,000 orders for the Sagitar before its official market introduction. The new model, which is known as “Jetta” in Europe, targets customers with strong personal ambitions, doing successful business and longing for latest European technology. The Chinese name of Sagitar is called “Su Teng” (“fast” “gallop”), pointing out its clear sporty character. Mr. Weiming Soh, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing of Volkswagen Group China, and First Vice President in charge of Sales & Marketing of FAW-Volkswagen expresses: “The launch of the Sagitar is part of FAW-Volkswagen’s new orientation towards the high-end car market. This new model is the best example for German engineering and quality brought to China. The Sagitar is excellent in terms of safety, agility as well as controllability and design.” Mr. Tiecheng An, President of FAW-Volkswagen says: “We will continue to provide consumers with new products of finest craft, best quality and most advanced technology. To further strengthen our performance, we continue to improve our marketing capability and timely responding to the various market demands.” The Sagitar is the first in a row of new models of FAW-Volkswagen which will be introduced in the near future. With new sales and marketing concepts as well as the restructuring of its sales network the company also takes bold measures to become more attractive for private customers and – herewith -to strengthen its position in the currently highly competitive Chinese car market.

    1 yuan = P6.65

I converted the price a while ago... the VW Sagitar(Jetta) 1.6 M/T would be around P996K.
While a VW Sagitar(Jetta) 2.0 would start at around P1.16M...

I think the reason why PGA Cars won't buy the VW brand dahil sa prices ng cars ng VW these days.
