I agree. Even the South Koreans made clunky copies of Jap cars at first, look at them now - the Kia Sorento and the Hyundai Sonata are among the better cars in the market today.Originally Posted by notEworthy27
How about us? Wala kahit isa.
Five years from now, China will produce a true world-class car.
Behind the capitalist ways of new China is still the iron-fist of the Communist Party that dictates how their whole economy runs.Originally Posted by Steeljack
It might seem that they are doing ok - but quite frankly they are not.
A trip to their provinces will bring you back to reality on how the Communist system really works. Don't forget the millions who perished due their social experiments & re-education. Are all of these justifiable just to produce a "true world-class car"?
It's an authoritarian state but communist in name only. You can't be both communist and capitalist.Originally Posted by mazdamazda
Anyway Geely is a small company in china, the big auto producers in china are SAIC and FAW, the joint venture partners of major western auto companies, SAIC was the one who bought Sangyong of Korea. SAIC is planning to produce it own brand car soon.
it would be interesting to see those two bigger chinese manufacturers to sell their cars here..
'mabuhay' ang pangalan ;-)
anyways..madami dyan sa china na mas reputable ang brand ewan ko lang ba ung bakit ito ang naipasok nila...i think that they should just copy the korean car industry and how they started.
IMO it's too expensive! second-hand is a far better option. i personally do not want to support car companies which copy whole cars from other brands.
try http://paultan.org/archives/2004/12/05/china-pirates/
or just search "chinese copycat cars" in google. peace.
give china automakers a few more years perhaps 5-10yrs, baka magulat kayo sa improvement hehe. but this geely really sucks!
exactly. lihis ko nang konti itong thread. see ssangyong? they have originality! though, their vehicles are for those who have "acquired taste". :D
i think cherry ba yun... nag sue ang honda sa isang chinese automaker because of that model.
il buy a 2nd hand jap car nalang siguro kesa sa mga 1st batch ng geely na to hehe
cherry QQ yun from chevy spark...
anyways...i totally agree with the originality issue...
bwahaha...not content making shitty copies of LV bags, they are now making knock-offs of other cars :bwahaha:
alam ba ninyo na at one time na demanda ang toyota ng MB dahil ginaya nila yun oto nila? alisin mo lang yun emblem at baguhin ng KONTI yun ilaw yun na yun hehehe talo ata toyota nun eh..para sa corona nila yun early 90's ata
chinese cars being reliable and safe = 20 years to go
cant remember kung ito yun kay jeff goldblum & michelle pfiefer na pinagtatawanan yun box type na toyota corolla or yun kay michael keaton na supervisor ng isang jap car manufacturing plant somewhere in the US. grabe laiitin mga japanese cars siguro noon.
Kahit 100k less sya I still don't think I'd get one.
Bili nalang me 2nd hand japanese (or even korean) car hehe

pitbullz,
i think that was the galant yung gti/mpi body
buti pa china kahit sabihin na kopya o bulok at least they can produce "real" cars...eh tayo hanggang owner at passenger jeep lang ang kaya..nagsasarado pa mga assembler nito! kahit magsimula tayo sa motorsiklo parang honda ba?..... ahihihi
It is quite apparent why the Communist gov't of China insist that every foreign automaker seeking to establish operations in China MUST have a local partner. This policy allow Chinese manufacturers easy access to closely held secrets (ex: manufacturing process, techniques, technology, industry know-how, etc) among established manufacturers, which in turn has exacerbated the "piracy" issue in terms of auto designs and engineering.
Although the Japanese were also guilty of design plagiarism from the Americans, things were not so simple for the Japanese as they did not attain experience and know-how on a golden platter like the way the Chinese are unscrupulously doing so right now. The Japanese had to reverse engineer American cars and learn their own lessons with no apparent guidance. On the other hand, the Chinese partners of foreign auto manufacturers gets to witness first hand every nook, cranny, everything there is to know about manufacturing automobiles.
some cars being sold in china(japanese) use chinese names bec some chinese, specially the elderly will NEVER buy japanese brands. the same goes true to korea i think mas malakas pa ata yun anti jap product sentiments nila dyan. i know some koreans na ganun magisip kahit na bata pa :-) although some can pass as pure pirated japeks hahaha
