    Is Mach 1 a Fastback also? Much like what Civic is to Honda? I also saw a Mustang GT-A, and referred to as a Fastback too by the mechanics working on it. There's also an Eleanor mentioned here and in the movie, how do you make an Eleanor out of Fastbacks?

    No sweat man. Yup. Mach 1s were fastbacks (or what they refered to later in the game as sportbacks). It was more a decor and slight performance option. Much like with Hondas as well where you had a base model going up to a optioned model.

    Yup, they do eleanors in different ways here...either through the expensive kit you buy out of the U.S. or the method wherein you do it with a tinsmith. Both have its pros and cons. According to others (not me as i do not have an eleanored fastback), the fiberglass U.S kits are lighter so you can deduce how the tinsmith versions will be with added metal. However the price is higher. Some claim that you will feel the difference on the road. Just thing of hondas with fiberglass or lightened parts.OT (but somewhat related) I currently have a Harrington Le Mans (based on the production race car used in the 24 hours of Le Mans. they only came out two years - 1962 and 1963) that has fiberglass sections that were fitted in the factory. Once it gets road worthy I will be able to see how it fares against it steel counterparts - sunbeam alpines. a guy i know owns one anyway so i hope he lends it to me...for a road test

    Advisable ba na bumili ng V6 mustang and just upgrade it sa V8? what are the modification required para dine.

    I'm not an expert but I've been reading a bit. Here are a few things you need to do:

    1. Get a V8. Lots of 351W's and 302's still available. Price is anywhere from 45-75k (w/tranny).
    2. Convert 4-stud hubs to 5-stud hubs. It shouldn't be that difficult finding surplus front- and rear-ends. Budget siguro around 15k-20k.
    3. Strengthen front suspension. Mas mabigat ang V8. You'll probably want to get new suspension components while you're at it (UCA/LCA/spring perch/tie rods, etc)....arnd 15k.
    4. Fabricate engine mount. Sa latero mo na lang ipagawa....

    Of course hindi pa kasama yung ibang mga kailangan gawin sa restoration....mechanicals, body work, painting, etc. Mukhang mahal magpa-convert but it's becoming more worthwhile because it's getting harder and harder to find intact V8 cars.

    ano bang average price ng mustang V6 na running condition so ill know how low and high i can go.

    some say less than 100K meron ka na pero wala naman akong makitang ganon ang price? mostly less than 200K running condition nga lang.

    Hard to say dito kasi napakaliit ng market so there are no such things as "averages". It would be better to get an assessment of the current condition of the car then figuring out how much you'd need to spend to get it up to your standards.

    It would be best if you can bring a tinsmith (latero) and a mechanic along to check the car out (pero mas importante ang latero). The biggest problem with vintage 'Stangs is rust (aka Mustang cancer). The areas to check are the floorboards (floor in front of the front seats), door panels & trunk. Check for rust as well as excessive bondo. Madali lang kasi itago ang kalawang so you really need to check for this. Kaya namang ayusin but it takes time and money. Since you're converting to V8, mechanic isn't all that necessary. Besides, bullet-proof yung mga older engines.

    After you assess what needs to be done, you can begin figuring out how much you'll need to spend to get it to the proper condition. Do remember that a proper restoration will take several months and no matter how generously you budget, you'll end up spending more than planned.
