CMIIW, but most of the local cars nowadays are being sold by their owners before the cars even reach the 100,000 KM mark, for practical reasons - to avoid maintenance headaches, fetch higher car resale value, upgrade to new models, etc.

on the other hand, there are people who decided to keep their cars running "forever" in their possession. this thread is for you.

please post the present KM reading and details of your car (model and brand, year of make, gas or diesel, etc.), including some tips and any modifications you did to keep your baby still going strong after enduring our not-so-ideal road conditions and all kinds of Pinas weather for so long.

does your car qualify to be included in the "Ang Tibay" Tsikot Hall of Fame? cheers!

our office frontier (one 2.7S which is near 6yo and another 2.7E which is 4yo) is now on the 175T km plus mark.

diesel workhorse, doing delivery and regular ahente rota...travelling 100km daily. Can still run above 140kph if needed...

no problems on the motor kahit minsan neglected (napapalagpas sa every 5,000km change oil and filter)...regular maintenance lang ng change oil and filters ang servicing nito halos.

most of the problems encountered on both are on the tranny (manipis na clutch lining), suspension (bushing, springs/dampers) and the steering joints (ball joints).

another workhorse is our delivery L300FB na lagpas 150T km and near 6yo... halos similar problems lang din with the fronty. The engine is still in good condition (ni hindi nga ito naging mausok ever since - surprising for a 4D56).

maintenance nito is simply the change oil and filter every 5,000km and replacement of the fuel filters as needed.

Our 1996 Nissan Ultra Power Eagle Series.. over 750,000 km, went through 2 overhauls and 3 repaint jobs already. Rota niya dati Manila - Quezon - Bicol and back mga 2 to 3 times a week consistently. From my Dad, passed it on to me (my 1st car, dun din ako natuto magdrive) then to my younger Bro and now pagamit na sa tao service pang piyesa piyesa, at napakaganda pa rin tumakbo! Not planning to get rid of it anymore. Bilib na bilib Dad ko sa Nissan Pickups pang harabas kaya kumuha din kami ng Nissan Bravado Series pamalit hehe. Super reliable and cheap to maintain kasi.

    Change oil lang every 10Kms.

... '96 Toyota Corolla GLi, M/T, 210K+ km ... still going strong. averages 12kpl. routine PM (casa) until 20K kms, then the usual oil change (~every 4 mos.), tune up (~2 years), wheel rotation/alignment (annual). i replace my front tires yearly, the old front tires going to the rear (in effect, every tire spends 2 years in active duty). everything is STOCK until the 10th year. just recently changed my rims (fr 14" to 15") and headlights just to give it a 'new' look after all those years. kept my still working old headlights just in case the new ones flip out on me. body is well preserved having avoided any major accident (lucky, lucky!). replaced all belts twice (every 100K kms) ... even if old belts were still OK. brake pads are also replaced after every 18 mos. hard to anticipate when a battery dies out so i always buy a new one when the old battery reaches its 14th month (new battery stays in the trunk as spare)... works fine with me, so far. tip? just avoid those performance mods in the first 5 yrs.

2001 Toyota Revo GLX diesel currently at 112tkms. First car, and to date only car in our garage to have reached 100tkms under our watch. Replaced head and valve cover gaskets at 111tkms due to overheating.
