November 8th, 2005 09:37 PM #13Russia's GDP is growing fast in the high single digit for the last 3 years all becoz of higher oil exports (couple with increasing oil prices), growing consumerism and a real estate property boom in the urban areas but wealth is still so unevenly distributed that if you go outside Moscow, poverty and illiteracy still abound.......we may view russia as rich but not by the american and western europeans standard
the USA still holds the most number of billionaires worldwide.....

Russia isn't poor in a similar way that the Philippines isn't poor. I.e. lots of rich ass people centered in one area, mid-high income per capita (in relative terms) but it's distributed very unevenly.

aba kinumpleto ng PD nila lahat ng high end suv ah. di kaya yung iba diyan seized vehicles ng mga crime lord? or maybe the mafia also runs the police? :hihihi:
anyway, Russia is a super-rich country resource-wise. it was just because of communism that the people really didn't enjoy the fruits of this. but now that they are democratizing (is that a word?), all the rewards are going to those with the speed and the means to jump on the opportunities, as someone else said above
