the original goodyear nct3 tires on my 2000 lynx ghia are due for replacement. i've always hated these tires as they are noisy and slippery. i didn't bother changing them since i don't really go around that much - i only have 24k km on the car after 6 years. i don't need ultra performance tires, just quiet and reliable ones. size needed is 195/55 r15 and the following have been recommended:

    1. Michelin Pilot Preceda 2 * P4.2k - medyo mahal
    2. Yokohama C.Drive * P3.5k - recommended over ES100
    3. Bridgestone MY01 * P3.2k - any feedback on this model?

    thanks!

    mahal yang mga choices mo.

Bridgestone Turanza GR-80 ka na lang... super quiet and smooth.... good grip... around P2.5K lang.

Bridgestone only has Potenza GIII and MY01 for 195/55 R15. The latter is cheaper and more quiet daw.

la na atang turanza john. ok yung my-01. yan gamit ko sa pizza. tahimik naman and grippy enough for my driving

kung more performance oriented, maganda din yung dunlop direzza. yan ata pumalit sa le mans.

C-Drives or GR-80s will be okay.

What Bridgestones did your cousin use? AFAIK, the Turanza ER30s aren't that quiet, either.

i am not recommending you, but eto experience ko.

have used lots of tires (Federals, Michelins, Yokohamas, Goodyears) so mga two months ago, shopped again for another set dahil kalbo na yung Michelin ko.

i've read somewhere dun sa MMPH na maganda daw yung Achilles Tires. Its made in Indonesia (the GT source too). so i told myself, what the heck. i am in for daily use lang, so it has to be cheap. Before i got these set, i was really bent on trying Kelly's or GTs, pero nagcanvass muna ako.

Until i saw a shop (Gomags Trading along Sucat Road), which sells these brands. Got myself 4 pieces (195/65/15) for 1900 each.

I have been using it for 2 months already and so far i have been very much satisfied with them. Very quiet, treadwear is AA, and grip is satisfactory. In fact, yesterday during the heavy downpour, i tried running at 85 kph sa coastal road. ayos ang grip, even yung braking grip. Ganda pa ng design.

i think Simplicity (of Tsikot.Com) too, also uses these tires... Please see this link...

also please see these links for the brand of tires...

exercise common sense when deciding on when your tires can be replaced.

    common reasons:

    a. kalbo, thin threads.
    b. sidewall damage
    c. oblong
    d. expired tires

Check the tread depth. While there is no minum tread-depth rule in the Philippines, if you have less than 5mm tread on your tires, you may want to consider replacing them already. 4mm or less of tread is already relatively unsafe on a wet road, and 3mm or less is downright dangerous.
