Ford Focus WRC yun, made specially for the WRC competition.
yung Focus SVT is more of like an Ralliart Lancer, Sentra SE-R Spec V, Mazdaspeed Protege etc.
2004 Ford Focus SVT
*currently, we are luckier than US to get the new EU Focus. they are still stuck we previous gen Focus and has no sport variants. means: no SVT.*
its powered by a 2.0L DOHC 16valve 170hp.

Nah, the old Focus isn't the equal of the Lynx RS. The Lynx RS is actually the Mazda Protege MP3, a direct competitor of the 1st gen Focus SVT. It isn't as powerful as the Focus SVT, but it's one of the few cars (supposedly) that are a match for its handling.
The standard new Focus is a little stodgy and heavy compared to either the first generation Focus or the Lynx/Protege, but the suspension sophistication, suppleness and control are all top-notch... which means the New Focus RS will probably be the supercar killer the first generation Focus RS was always meant to be.

...or maybe its time to bring Ford's in house tuner SVT to spice up local car offerings. siguro yung arrival ng rumored successor of the SiR in the current Civic FD ang makaka-convince sa Ford... well, sana ;)

not letting VW enjoy being the King of the Hot Hatches
btw, there are rumors of 250hp or 350hp version. but its not yet confirmed which will gonna make it to production RS (...or maybe the 350hp is reserved for an RS Cosworth version...?)
Ford is rumoured to be considering a 350bhp, four-wheel-drive, six-cylinder turbocharged proposal for the next-generation Focus RS. Right now the Blue Oval’s executives at the company’s headquarters in Cologne, Germany are considering a plan to fit Ford’s new flagship hot hatch, due out in 2007, with a new turbocharged in-line six-cylinder engine.
The advanced powerplant (right) has been developed by Volvo as a replacement for the Swedish car maker’s current six-cylinder engine, and is planned to make its debut in the new S80 due out next June.
Conceived for both transverse and longitudinal applications, the four-valve-per-cylinder unit is based around a die-cast aluminium cylinder block for an all-up weight of 180kg. It is also claimed to be 1mm shorter than Volvo’s five-cylinder engine – a feature that makes it suitable for a whole range of different models, including the new Focus RS.
Three different versions of the engine are planned: a base naturally aspirated 3.2-litre and a pair of performance-oriented turbocharged 3.0-litre units. The former receives variable cam timing (VCT) on the inlet valves, with the latter two adopting a system operating both the inlet and exhaust valves as well as a variable-vane Garrett turbocharger.
In 3.2-litre guise, the new six-cylinder produces 235bhp at 6000rpm along with 236lb ft of torque at 3500rpm – an increase of 38bhp and 26lb ft over Volvo’s current 2.9-litre engine. The turbocharged units deliver 285bhp and 295lb ft in light-pressure guise, with the high-pressure unit pumping out a BMW M3-beating 350bhp and 332lb ft.
It’s this latter specification that Ford’s Motorsport boss, Jost Capito, may use to thrust the Blue Oval back to the very top of the European hot-hatch ranks. If Ford’s plans come to fruition, the new RS will boast a whopping 133bhp and 96lb ft more than the upcoming Focus ST, whose turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine generates 217bhp along with 236lb ft of torque.
Unlike the front-wheel-drive ST, the new RS is being developed around new four-wheel-drive underpinnings. This promises to endow it with spectacular levels of grip and traction. One problem, however, is the lack of a suitable six-speed manual transmission for the new car. The gearbox in the Mondeo ST TDCi is rated to 295lb ft, although insiders say measures are being taken to upgrade it for use in performance-oriented Volvos.
using new S80's inline-6 engine with turbocharging and 4WD.
When Ford launched its 220bhp Focus ST at the Geneva show, company officials were keeping schtum about an even hotter RS version in the pipeline. But now we've caught the flagship model undergoing cold-weather testing. Whilst the ST, which arrives in late 2005, gets 220bhp from Volvo's turbocharged five-cylinder 2.5-litre engine and is more powerful than the previous-generation Focus RS (200 bhp), the RS will be quicker still, with the T5 unit tuned for a good 250 bhp-plus and fitted in combination with the Volvo AWD system.
Like its earlier namesake, and forebears such as the Sierra RS Cosworth, expect the latest RS to take its inspiration from the newest Ford WRC car, which makes its debut in 2006. The previous Focus RS got many race-spec parts - Sachs dampers, Brembo brakes, Sparco seats, OZ Racing alloys, a Garrett turbocharger and AP clutch to name a few - so we'd expect this top-dog Focus to bring much of the rallying experience to the road. We don't predict a tacky bodykit and a huge wing, though: like the previous RS, it will probably remain reasonably understated.

Hmm..that Lynx RS is what's pictured in your my tsikot thread then it looks alot like the 1st gen Focus here, the current US Focus has had several cosmetic redesign and now looks like that Lynx. The 2nd gen Focus, Mazda3, Volvo S40 are all the same platform with differing engines.

It's mostly cosmetic, actually. Some of us are kinda pissed that the old Focus never made it here (after hearing rave reviews of its handling in RS and ST form), but the Lynx RS more than made up for that... except in the power department... If you're foolish enough to drag race the thing, it could get embarrasing...
I've driven both the Focus and the Mazda3, but have yet to turn a wheel in anger in the S40 (though I think the airconditioning, stereo and leather are all kinda nice)... I reckon the Mazda3 is closest to the old Focus and Protege dynamics and steering, but the new Focus is a much better all-arounder than any of the above.

The USDM Focus SVT is almost identical to the european Focus ST170, they are both powered by a 170hp 2-liter inline-4.
