Totoo din yung sabi niya... even my "suki" garage in Laguna can get spare parts for me... and for special electronics like the cam position sensor, there are lots of places in Banaue (like Fordland) that you can go to to find them. If you don't have the time, casa prices may be higher, but they're not excessively expensive.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Officemate ko ganyan oto 2000 model. According to him he gets 9.5-11km/l city driving. Pwede na.
I have a 2000 A/T 1.6L Ghia. In the 6 years that I've owned it from new, here are my comments/observations after 82,000kms:
PROS:
1/ Surprisingly reliable & "well-behaved". No major mechanical headaches except for a malfunction on the cam sensor which resulted in misfire and eventually a stalled vehicle on Katipunan Ave. Mileage was 60,000km.
2/ Good suspension especially the rear. Firmness is just right for me (medium). I might add that compared to my previous Lancers/Galants ball joints, pitman arm, steering components are surprisingly sturdy and hence are still original except for some bushings and tie-rod end (replaced once). Still no kalampags.
3/ Good acceleration with throaty exhaust roar.
4/ Good gas mileage. Less than 1 full tank a week * 9km/liter city/hiway combo
5/ Good steering response
6/ Comfortable, spacious interior; nicely laid-out; generally good quality
CONS:
1/ Cheap sound system; on/off buttons keep falling off (replace!)
2/ RH front passenger central lock keeps failing
3/ Alarm system shorted twice (to reset remove battery connections or switch ignition on/off 10times in quick succession); no silent mode; uses car horn to confirm alarm on/off (annoying to neighbors late at night)
4/ Poor cabin insulation; annoying tire noise (do not use Goodyear tires! Use Bridgestones for a quieter ride)
5/ Brakes a bit spongy
I plan to keep the Lynx at least for another year or maybe more unless it starts misbehaving. Good luck!
generally nice car, i have a '04 gsi. na cover na ata lahat ni hotrox. pero mine has a silent mode sa alarm system. personally, i like the look, medyo angas ang dating sa front view hehe
btw, what gen po ba lynx ko? is it gen2? may gen3 po ba? may 3 looks kasi ako nakikita, syempre yung pinaka unang look ng lynx, then the face-lift, kaso i see slight difference with the tail lights, front grill and front bumper ng lynx ko compared to earlier versions ng face-lift. yung tail light ko has a clear circle for the signal light, yung iba ala basta solid red lang, then yung "ford" sa front grill ko nasa center, yung iba nasa upper portion ng grill, lastly the front bumper has a long narrow hole, yung iba ala, well meron din actually pero its covered by a plastic black grill
hotrox,
actually, there is a silent mode for the alarm. I remember the dealer rep explaining to me how to set it when I got my Lynx almost 6 years ago. unfortunately, since I never set it to silent, I can't remember how to reset it now. have you asked sa casa?
Sir niky, i have read all your previous post regarding the camshaft position sensor because my ford lynx ghia 1.6 AT was experiencing the exact same problems.. car stalling on traffic and during hot weather and etc. I really valued your advices, so I decided to purchase a camshaft sensor from Fordland Banaue. Unfortunately, when my mechanic tried to replace the old sensor with a new one, the car would not start. The sensors looked exactly the same, but with different part numbers. My mechanic told me that the sensor did not click in place. With my old sensor i got the stalling problems at times, I just decided to replace it to stop the stalling once and for all. Now my question is this, is the newly purchased sensor defective? or must it have the exact part number as the previous sensor? Sir Niky.. pls help. am from Zamboanga. I really hope Fordland will replace the newly bought sensor. Thanks for all your inputs. I really value them.
They might have gotten one for the 2.0, it's different.
You have to be specific with year model for the Lynx, too.
If the car won't start at all, it's the wrong sensor. If the sensor doesn't send the proper signal, the car won't start (I've experienced this wen we were experimenting with cam-gears).
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Sir niky, thanks sa reply. was it for me? sorry am new to this. just started today cause am looking forward to your expert help. btw, i told fordland that my ford lynx is the 2002 model. my original camshaft sensor part no is j5t23281 zlo1 1z17. The one Fordland gave me is zlo1-18-230. Does this matter? Am planning to mail back the part cause the electrician told me it will not really work. Is there a possibility that the new part is defective. If so, can they test it? I really hope they have a sensor with the exct part no, cause that is what my mechanic is looking for. Thanks in advance Sir Niky.
Yup. It was.
I'm sorry... I'm not quite sure what the exact part number is. What I know is that a few years ago, they upgraded the part (the newer part is more durable), so the part number may not match.
2002 should be second-generation. Does it look like the RS (with the projector type head-lamps)? If it doesn't, maybe it's a 2000-2001 model. Best to call Fordland to confirm about the part number.

Economy of the 05 Ghia is just okay with MT, and soul suckingly bad in traffic with the AT.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Hi experts. I just bought a 99 lynx AT from a friend. I noticed the RPM drops if not fluctuates to the point that the battery light flashes and the car almost feels like it just restarted ( kadyot ). This often happens when I use seaoli, nation or the other minor players in the oil industry. But after 10 kms driving on a newly filled tank, it goes back to normal. Is this due to the fuel brand or a sign of something about to happen? Will I be needing to replace the cam shaft sensor, MAF or MAP for that matter?
Thanks,
Sax
