Guys, my father in law's 2010 tdci focus has black smoke, power loss esp in inclines and difficulty shifting gears. What could be the cause of all these? Had oil change several months back. Any ford non-casa recommendations?

If you're in Paranaque or Las Pinas, check out FordMaz.

Yung ibang mga Ford owners sa QC, pumupunta ng Powertorq pero sa Congressional pa yun.

Is the car well maintained? Dirty filters (air & fuel) could bring up the symptoms you mentioned.
Is the car modified? Check for boost leak.
K&N oiled filter could also foul up your sensor.
Check if your EGR needs to be cleaned.
Black smoke means more Fuel and less air, so check your air filter.
Hopefully, its not turbo or injector issue

Also try scanning with an obd2 code reader. Even without the check engine light on a fault might be recorded in there.

Noted all your suggestions. It's a stock unit with 140k kms. Had PMS 3-4 months ago. Will update this thread

When my Uncle's Starex CRDi had power loss, he took it to Berrima. They established the baseline power on the dyno (it dropped to somewhere between 20-40 WHP!) then they worked back from there until the car made nearly 80 or 90whp. You can try to check them out as well.

Assuming all filters have just been replaced, try to blank the EGR first.
