highly unlikely na magka-problem. even if you mix it with "low end" fuel.

i use shell fuel save diesel. the price difference of v-power ain't worth it. same quality lang sila.

I'm talking about circa 2005-2008 wherein I have a hard time looking for good gas stations na may vpower/high end diesel that time when we do road trips. Ngaun, non issue na to since nag kalat na sa daan shell when I go to tacloban along national highway.

I use shell primarily since I have relatives and batchmates who worked there. I only use vpower since they add additives na wala sa fuel save, according to them. Just help me sleep at night better knowing na quality fuel gamit ko. LOL..
Maybe it's true since okay pa naman 12 year old crdi ko. Never had a fuel related issue sa oto. Still good FC(14km/L city//20km/L highway) and no smoking problems.

those additives do nothing much really. it's more of a marketing gimmick. your regular changing of fuel filter probably has a bigger effect on your engine than using v-power.

but to each his own. if you don't mind the price difference and you are happy with what you are paying for, so be it.

Been using top of the range diesel fuel(shell vpower, sometimes petron turbo if di available during long trip ang vpower) for over 12 years now on my other CRDi car. Daily car with, 260T kms on the clock. All fuel related components like, injectors, fuel rail pressure sensors, SCV, pumps, etc are still original and never been touched. Although, I changed my fuel filter religiously every other oil change or every 10-14T kms.

I checked our eve and luckily madali lang din ma access at mag change ng fuel filter, pwede i DIY after mag expire warranty. It has electric intank fuel pump kaya madali na i bleed.

we're talking about diesel qualities from the same company, i.e. fuel save vs. v-power. the video made a comparison between a "supermarket" diesel and v-power and the one from BP. god knows where they got that "supermarket" diesel. and the 6 bhp difference the hosts acknowledged are barely noticeable, yet some people here swear that they notice tangible difference between "low-end fuel" and "high-end fuel". i say it's a placebo effect and perceptions are easily swayed by expectations from a more expensive product.

when they first introduced v-power in europe, a certain portion of it was mixed with fuel coming from Shell's GTL (gas-to-liquids) refinery. these are liquid fuels derived from natural gas, and are by default have better properties than diesels derived from crude oil. unfortunately, local v-power is not the same as v-power in europe. nope, we don't import GTL fuels to produce v-power here. it is too expensive for our market, and even our cetane requirement is lower than in europe.

remember that v-power diesel here is not even marketed as more powerful than fuel save diesel, but rather by its supposed cleaning ability, with supposed cleaning "additives" mixed with it. unfortunately, those "additives" are added after the diesel leaves the refinery (product qualities have already been established), when they are already in depots, and no more quality testing is done before releasing them to the pumps. guess where in the oil company's organization chart the depots fall under....drum roll please....they are under their marketing departments.

the only difference between a fuel-save and v-power diesel are those "additives". everything else is the same, including the much important cetane number, which is a measure of how the diesel will easily burn, sort of opposite of octane number in gasoline.

ask your relatives and friends who are working in your mentioned oil company if they know these facts. if not, then stop believing in the myth about "high-end" diesel.

Generally correct. VPN Diesel and FuelSave Diesel have the same base fuel, and are only differentiated by additives. They share the same tank in the depot, and the additives are just added later on in the loading process. Since the base fuel is the same, cetane number, sulfur content, and all other technical specs are the same. Much of the hype is just marketing and placebo effect, but there's some semblance of truth to it as the additives are really better for VPN vs FS.

However, depots are not under Marketing. Heck, there isn't even a standalone Marketing department in Shell. Each business unit (Retail, Lubes, Commercial, etc) has their own Marketing team, reporting to that BU's GM. Depots are managed by T&S (trading and supply), with their separate GM and their own set of people.
