anyways since nabanggit na ang hyundai dito. i'm both a hyundai and honda suv owner.

if u ask me go ahead with the escape

why? it's got the best deal in town. since matagal ng modelo 'to at kamado-kamado na ang parts even sa mga 3rd parties dealers and supplier. that's a plus! and of course, Ford Phils. offers it at reasonable price (300k less) with all the features of the top of the line tucson and crv.

i've browsed the net and it was said that this facelifted is the most popular compact suv import in japan. imagine japan, na tigaga-wa ng sarili nila kotse, nag-succeed ang escape dun.

now my question is this? gano kaba ka O.C. when it comes to exterior styling? kasi nga medyo luma na body style neto? will it matter if 2-3 yrs. from now, eh mapapansin mo mukang luma style na ang oto mo.

ako kasi i can live with this coz i'm not really particular about fancy styling anymore as is the new tucson or the upcoming sportage. i drive a Santa Fe and one of the first owners since 2006, well yun lang i felt that i was driving something rare on the road that time and it was a very good feeling but wala eh yun lang i experienced it already.

pero ngaun di na, basta mataas, durable, low acquisition cost and gasoline fed but compact suv body ok na that's why whenever i see a new escape around, it never ceases to catch my attention.

i have browsed Ford club phils. and even escapezone, a lot of happy and satisfied ford escape owners there.

basta remember this, cars began to become not a status quo anymore when they offered low-downs. it means anyone who can raise the low-down can own a car these days. like fancy laptops and computers that cost a hundred grand, ngaun a 20K laptop can do the same office/tool work.

think of a car as a durable tool <like a 20k laptop> and not something you can show off and the escape falls into that category that's new age thinking too. at this efficient day and age, the 300K saving can do alot with other ventures

The escape and tribute are essentially the same. The FC's not actually so bad (not as bad as the 2nd generation CRV) - check out the ford fuel consumption subforum here and fordclubph. Most of its owners attest to its comfortable ride. Cheaper, probably, since malamang may makukuha kayong discount from ford. Hilig nila sa free everything+that cash discount.
And the money saved will probably net you several ten thousands of kilometers worth of gas money.

the tucson, however, is a far newer design (engine, transmission, body.). You could ask the owners thread here for the FC and feedback. hehe.

But personally... renta nalang ng nearby apartment/condo. Sayang yung time na pinangdadrive. pang aral (or tulog) rin yun, and every moment really counts!

*Horsepower: yeah, trying to become one! summer's a much-needed breathing room. hehe

Dun lang sila Fail (accdg to some Ford owners). You'll have to find a casa that you're at home with. Ako malapit ako sa Ford North EDSA. Lumipat sila sa upper part ng section ng EDSA from Balintawak to Munoz. Binaha ata sila sa Munoz.

Anyway, since Ford Escape is just a 5-seater (and a really old body), I really really suggest that you consider Strada (also a very comfortable five-seater). Who knows, you might get to use the bed (it's a compact bed BTW) for hauling bodies (living or otherwise ), med equipment, etc.

If you really want a Ford mini-SUV like escape, I suggest you wait for the local launch of the new one (meron na, pero inuubos lang ang stocks dito ng old model). Meron din Ford Edge.

ford edsa-greenhills didn't give us too much trouble with our Ford.

from what I've read okay raw sa libis at sa global city. And parts will be aplenty since year 2000 pa yung escape

OT: dun ka matutulog? baka exped o kaya E-150 kelangan mo. or as sir Horsepower, palagyan mo ng canopy yung likod ng pickup tapos magdala ka nalang ng kutson. o kaya RV! joke lang. hehe. good luck with your 4th year, sir. Ako papasok ako ng ICC this coming june..

Anyways, sorry ... I thought you're opting for the 2004 escape, that's why I based my feedback on the V6 Escape that I have driven.

The CURRENT Escape is something to take a look of. Not just because of it's trendy styling ( I admit, I still find the escape stylish ) but also because of it's very reasonable price. Parts cost wouldn't be much of a problem since Ford parts aren't really that expensive not that cheap too.

There are other things that you can consider too since the place where you are at is flood-prone. The Hyundai Tucson is one, though I find the base-tucson which is priced below 1M, bare and dull looking. Next to it would be the Nissan X-Trail, who cares if it looks old, it still looks great. Then the Suzuki Jimny is next, yes it may look ugly but I tell you, it's a toy that you will truly enjoy. :hihihi:

On the other hand, you can consider too some pick-up trucks like the Nissan Navara, Ford Ranger and the Mitsubishi Strada. The Strada is cheap yet it gives you great features that you could use, and with it's high ground clearance you wouldn't doubt if it really CAN go through knee-deep floods. The Navara, however has a somewhat manly look compared to the Strada's ***y curves. Downside though, it has a lower ground clearance than the Strada but I tell you it's pretty damn fast. The Ford Ranger, great truck too but I`m not sure if it still fits your budget though, but knowing ford ... they've got pretty good discounts too.

Oh well, it will still be you choice. Any of the cars that's said will still be a great machine and it will do well for a pretty long time, only if you take care of it.

If I had the money for a CUV (1.5 million), I'd probably get the CX-7 or a Forester.

    then the CR-V (1.3 million)

but kung budgeted talaga (~1m) it's the tucson or the escape... both vehicles are really great value for the money. yun lang wala nang m/t escape

*Horsepower: meron nang 3rd gen escape na ilalabas dito?

*Gen. Miting: mukhang may fans club ka pala. pati dun sa captiva thread andun sya

pare pasali ha!, though im a bmw benz mechanic and user, i used to have ford escape 2.3 xls before. pare kunin mo na!!!! maganda review on escape basta yung 2.3 lang ha. mas malakas sa gas yung 2.0 nila kasi under power ,and of course yung 3.0 given na lumalaklak ng gas yun. 2.3 escape is much better in tourque and ride. tamang tama lang for city driving. maganda rin ang aircon and simple lang ang mga features hindi kumplikado. its a nice car bro!

    mazda tribute 1.025M

    ford escape xls 1.050M
    ford escape xlt 1.099M

The Mazda Tribute's body is OLD. There's the CX-7 but it doesn't fit your budget. Cancel the Tribute in your list UNLESS you opt for the white color, very nice !

The Hyundai Tucson 2WD GLS(?) is good enough, and yes it's not the very base model so it does get great features too.

Ford Escape XLT/S, I really don't know what is the very main difference between the 2 but I guess, both are great choices. I prefer the escape in white or blue. :D

Should be doc, last 2007 pa nilabas yung 2008 Escape (the one that looks like a mini-Exped). It has a six-speed AT tranny compared to the stone age 4AT and body of the current one being sold here.

I hope they equip that upcoming escape with a TDCi though

For a 1.1 M budget or even less, i will have no qualms getting the Escape if you are looking for a CUV.

A 4x2 pick-up (i.e. Trekker) is a very compelling for that budget though.

I didn't not have a tsikot til I'm in residency training back in the 90s. That sedan (a Corolla bigbody) is still with me---serviceable pa but semi-retired na.

Meron XLT trim na 4x2 lang ---which includes foglamps, front and back skidplates, parking sensors, leather steering wheel, among others that are not found in the XLS trim. Price difference of about P50,000.

bibili lang ako ng mazda tribute if it's a white one and then super dark tint all over tapos sa future papakabitan ko ng bling mags

but since mazda tribute is just the ford escape, mag escape ka na lang talaga. white din heheh
