December 14th, 2010 03:49 PM #1I drive a Focus tdci powershift and last friday, right when I got out of the parking lot in Makati the car made a warning sound and the message "Transmission Malfunction" showed up in the dash LCD.
It came out of nowhere, it happened when I was driving at around 20-30kph. Recent symptoms prior to this was that the Focus was lugging when driving slow, parang mali yung timpla nung clutch kung manual yung kotse.
So anyway the malfunction started, but the car was still running. I pulled over, restarted the engine and the message was gone. After a minute of driving after the restart, it happened again. The main problem is that although the car runs, shifting gears is very very jerky, which is why I started driving using the manual gearshift mode so I could monitor and control the shifts. It felt as if (in a manual car) you let go of the clutch pedal immediately, pag hindi tinimpla yung clutch and gear, it will jerk.
So I brought it to Ford Libis (wheere it was bought) nung Saturday, the car's still there. The service rep texted me a few hours ago saying that the car seems to be okay na daw, roadtest nalang then cleared to go na. I asked kung ano yung naging sira. Service rep said:
"Yung turbo hose sir may ngatngat ng daga."
?!?!?!!?!!!!???
Transmission then turbo? Anyway sana lang naayos na yung problema. At sana covered ng warranty, I dunno. As far as I know wala namang daga sa pinaparkingan ko.
Also my Focus has always had noticeable turbo lag (feels almost like a full second before it kicks); my friends say na it's as if bumubuwelo yung Focus bago sumipa. Proud pa namang sinabi nung sales person dati that only Ford and Hyundai use VGT for mass market vehicles, and minimal na dapat yung turbo lag. My mom's CRDI Sta Fe naman is VERY snappy, mas snappy pa sa focus ko. Ganun ba talaga siya or could it be related to the hose leak (which could mean matagal na yung sira nung hose?)
Thanks!
Yes, the Delica was not locally released. It shares the same engine, transmission and 4x4...
