Now when my soon to be wife's fiesta sedan arrives, I know I must close that hole as well! Di ko kaya pwede pagawa sa kanila yan?

My solution for the meantime is aluminum tape plus duct tape on top. You can get it sa Ace Hardware.

Dahil nasa ilalim, hindi naman kita kung di mo sya silipin under.

Tama ba ang nakita ko sa mga pics na walang protective undercoating ang fiesta diyan "exposed paint" sa fender area? a freind of mine has a fiesta and looked at the areas on the picture and the US version has no holes or what so ever on the front fender panel and the entire area has undercoating from the factory actually entire underbody has undercoating (black-rubbery feel)

siguro cost savings yan from the asia version pero matatakot ako na wlang undercoating ang sasakyan lalo na sa pinas na maulan, humid, at bahain. Buy 4 cans of 3M undercoating rubber spray paint and cover those area.

I think you can buy the OEM fender cover here in the North as a part but have no idea what will that cost. I can find out if you guys are interested.

peps i called a service dept. here and asked about that part and here is the info...

$120+tax per rear fender cover (includes all the retainer clips) this will work on hatchbacks and sedans.

I read somewhere na undercoating not done in the factory is really not that reliable kasi yung masikip at alangan na sulok hindi maabot ng spray.

Parang unncessary cost lang para kumita pa ng extra ang casa or mekaniko.

My solution is a good splatter guard so that minimized ang moisture and dirt na maupunta sa plain paint at the rear fender.

Medyo umulan dito so I will be able to see later kung effective yun nilagay kong splatter guards.

You really think sir that the undercoat is necessary? Iniisip ko kasi at least yung exposed na paint lang ang nakalagay as indicated on the pics you posted, at least protektado at hindi mag form ang rust.

OT: last na hawak ko sa foxpro when i was college(yr 2000) dos based pa. hindi na ko naka gamit nung visual foxpro. if you are still using foxpro, for sure POS ito? do you still developed or you owned a consulting company?

No need for the undercoat if you put in proper splatter guards.

If you put undercoat and not splatter guards, small stones will eventually chip away at the coating.

For me better stop the problem as near to the source as possible.

Undercoating and rust proofing done by a shop that specializes in it like Ziebart or Savi and regular maintenance is a more viable option. It protects the car's entire underside, not just a portion of it. All our cars have it. The oldest in our garage is almost 18 years and still in excellent condition.

..I also noticed this, parang ang bilis nga mag accumulate ng dust sa engine bay.. I used a leaf blower for it.. ang hirap gamitin ng car duster kasi daming singit singit.. hindi kasi putik yung dumi, it's a mix of dust and some fine sand or something?...

An air gun with different sized tips connected to an air compressor works better.

Yeah me too my engine bay gets dusty often... Wala once a week blower na lang din kasi di sya putik eh parang fine dust... Kaya nga I was hoping that they put an engine cover, oh well...

Aside form the front fender hole, I observed another reason for the increased and more coarse dust in the engine cavity.

I parked in a local Walter Mart here in Pampanga. Having some road work being done in the surroundings, the parking lot was dusty than normal.

When I was leaving and going on reverse, I noticed the radiator fan was strong enough to stir up the dust and since I was on reverse, suck it from the front and bring it into the engine cavity.

This will not happen of course during forward movement where we spend most of our driving.

Hope those of you wondering where all the dust is coming from finds this info more enlightening.

Case 1 - Hole in front mud guard

The quick and dirty fix I did using duct tape and aluminum tape when I earlier discovered this hole has now started peeling off.

I discovered this last night when I put in white H7 bulbs in the headlight.

The housing had mud splatters on its "belly".

To you guys who did not do ANY fix for the holes, try taking out the headlight housing and discover the dirt already in the engine cavity and on the headlight housing.

Since we are already getting some rain, this issue has an "elevated threat level" for me so I will be finding a more permanent and effective fix than the "band aids" .

In a related development, I am getting coarse grain dust on and around the engine again .

hindi kaya... it caused this, dahil walang cover yung engine bay natin sa ilalim? as you will check open na open sya. yung ibang cars naman meron splash shield under engine bay.
