Considering that everything will cost you P150,000 for the engine and labor. P150,000 can buy you 3,333 liters of premium fuel at P45/liter. On the average yun 45 liters na gas ko it takes me 400km and that is about 9km/liter or 2 weeks of daily use. The Expedition consumes like half of that lang or 4.5km/L, so siguro yun 45 liters e for 1 week lang.

3,333/ 45liters = 74. 74 weeks is about 1 year and a half. So if you stick with the gas engine, you can buy enough gas for you to use the car for a year and a half considering the price of gas won't go pass P45/liter.

I know that is not the point hehe.

ang laki nun...7.1L malaki pa sa engine ng hummer H1 na 6.2 or 6.5L yata na detriot diesel.

hindi ko naman ibebenta yung na replaced na engine...so I could simply swap it back to stock....so hindi rin naman mawawaste yung option of the gas.

I just don't think fuel cost would go down either...and gas will always be more expensive than diesel....I'd say "for a very long time"...

It's an interesting experiment... with the Isuzu powertrain, the one difficulty I can foresee is the fabrication of sturdy engine mounts to handle the engine.

Of course, an engine swap isn't solely about saving gas... it's just the sheer coolness of the thing.

Ang saya... wish I could see it happen!

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Hindi gaano problem ang engine mounts...(according to my mechanic) as much as possible stick to the stock mounts of the engine....ang ginagawan nya ng adaptor ay yung chasis to accomodate the new mounts.

Para malinis, a "bolt-on" style add on is the usual technique nila.

Will do more research...and see if this project is viable and would push through.

baka ung mga 6 liters na engine displacement sobrang takaw na sa diesel, it might defeat your purpose of pagtitipid sa fuel.

bigger in horsepower doesn't guarantee na mas kaya niya ang mabigat na katawan, kung baga mga mid size trucks natin, usually pag dating sa horsepower ang baba nila... i remembered yung power output ng isang truck namin na Hino 16-tons load capacity, 6-wheeler truck, is just 165 hp lang... kung ilalalay natin yung same amount of load sa Gen3 na RAV4 (*170hp), kahit palitan natin ng malaking clutch disc, i doubt makakasurvive yung engine within 1 km of travel

considering also the load or sa hatakan, torque pa rin ang primary factor

i think one of the best options is patrol TD42 engine... but... kelangan naka intercooled turbocharger. years ago, i used to consider installing this kaya lang quite expensive... aabot halos ng 300k (including replacement of heavy duty clutch), and you have to import it from australia pa, pero ang output niya superb!

from 115 hp to about 184 hp ang power output, from 27 kg-m to about 44 kg-m ang torque output at just 2000 rpm! which is quite higher pa kaysa dun sa original engine ng expedition (4x2 model).

i don't think it would be a good idea to transplant a jap diesel from a current SUV/pickup into an Exped. though it may be powerful (enough) for its current body, it would be really slow and underpowered on the much heavier Exped. as to the Ford diesels, wouldn't those engines be big as well, thus gas guzzlers too?

Ford diesels are relatively guzzly, but then again, they're 6 liters or more...

But I imagine even if the vehicle uses the turbodiesel V8, it's lighter than the heavy-duty pickups or the Excursion that use the engine, so it'd probably get 5-7 km/l on diesel. Which ain't that bad, considering the price of diesel.

And it's 325 hp and 500 ft-lbs of torque... untuned. Some of those bad boys produce over 400hp when you start tinkering with them...

Guys I have a xpe that I'm considering to install a LPG kit instead but I'm not sure if it's available locally or if anyone here had already try such.

But in other countries I read many Landcruiser with V8 4.7L engine was coupled with LPG kits.

I've seen a F150 converted to lpg. Since they have the same engine with the xpe, it should work. You have a choice of putting the tank in the trunk and loosing your trunk space or going with a torodial tank and giving up your spare tire.

Check in the work shop there is a very imformative thread about lpg conversions.
