Hindi ba available yan kay MazFord? cguro naman very common parts yan baka naman available. Grabe daylight robbery tlaga yan dapat ni rereport mo yan sa official ng Ford Philippines.

By the way did it manifest some sort of pre-warning? did you observe somethin unusual before the sensor finally went kaput? Sabi ng mga electronics expert this type of sensor most of the time nakukuha lang sa contact cleaner and a bit of disassembly.

The service guy came out for the standard P6.5k. Scan revealed that it was the CKP sensor. They removed it and tested it and said it seemed to be okay.
I went back to the house to get a wifi box so that they could go online. Online they found the testing procedure and after 2 hours they gave up and said it was the sensor. I did give them lunch.
My wife then got a call from them to say it would be P10k to tow it (129km) to their garage, P20k for the sensor and there would be additional labor costs which they were unable to give at that time.
I asked them what the part number was, and the reply was their manager does not allow them to give out part number. This I find unethical, and maybe illegal under consumer law.
I have been informed that the part should cost in the region of P3-5k.
Has any other users here had issues with their CKP sensor?

is it possible for a vehicle's cpu to fail in sniffing out a bad crankshaft position sensor w/c results in an absence of a check engine light activation ?

not possible, if the ecu does not know what possition the crankshaft is then it does not know when to ignite the cylinders... no crankshaft position sensor signal equals dead engine...

sometimes the scan tool diagnosis is not enough. it gave you the diagnostic trouble code that tells you the trouble area. for a thorough diagnosis, you should use a digital storage oscilloscope and watch for glitches or dirty signals. what you will be looking for are voltage signal consistency, waveform pattern and hashes. if the signal is not crisp, the sensor magnetic tip might be covered in ferrous particles, or, the relluctor wheel might have deformed teeth. be reminded, there are wires connecting the ckp to the pcm.if the condition of the wires is poor, so is the signal.
