Ford Motors recalls 6,000 units of 1994-2002 models of F-150, Expedition

The Philippine Star 09/10/2005
Ford Motors Philippines is recalling around 6,000 units of the 1994-2002 Ford F-150 and Ford Expedition which may have some defects in their speed control deactivation switch causing a leak that could result in corrosion of the vehicles’ electrical component and even lead to a possible engine fire.
Ford is issuing a recall to correct the problem.
In the Philippines, around 6,000 units of the 1994-2002 Ford F-150 and Ford Expedition have been identified as affected.
Ford sought to assure its customers that it is fully committed to service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Ford has fully investigated the problem and a solution to address the concern has been identified.
Ford assured that it is working towards a swift and complete resolution of the problem to minimize any inconveniences to its customers.
Owners of affected vehicles will be immediately notified in writing to advise them to bring in their vehicles to a Ford dealership.
For more information, customers are also encouraged to contact their respective Ford Dealer Customer Relation Officer or the Ford Philippines Customer Relations office at 049-541-5000.
The recall was initiated in the US by Ford Motor Co. following findings that brake fluid in the recalled vehicles may leak through the speed control deactivation switch into the speed control system electrical components, potentially corroding them.
In some cases, the corrosion in the electrical components may lead to a fire at the switch, according to Ford.
Ford will install a fused wiring harness between the switch and the speed control mechnism eliminating the electrical current to the switch.

Oo nga, ano... very old issue... but then again... this is a new one, because the NHTSA is not satisfied with the previous recall:

Toyota also has a pending recall for similar problems in the above article.
Toyota Motor Corp., meanwhile, recalled 978,000 sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks over complaints that a rod linking the steering wheel and the wheels could fracture when the steering wheel is turned while the vehicle is stopped. The affected vehicles include the 1990-1995 4Runner SUV, 1989-1995 truck 4WD and 1993-1998 T-100 pickup.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
