Ford marks its great Escape for 2013
Marking its debut at the 2011 LA Auto Show, it looks like Ford’s newest SUV has left its old, boxy façade for a sleeker, more wind-swept look. Dubbed as the “Smarter Utility Vehicle,” the all-new 2013 Ford Escape is packed in with an unsurprisingly hefty dose of technological knickknacks, as it seems to be the trend in cars these days - tech-savvy and eco-friendly.
Besides the standard 2.5-liter engine, Ford also added 1.6 and 2.0-liter EcoBoost options that promises better fuel mileage. There's even a new six-speed automatic transmission thrown in the mix, plus an active grill shutter system that automatically opens or closes the grill slats to improve aerodynamics while cruising. Moreover, the all-new Escape is fitted with quite a lot of sensors; the Intelligent 4WD System is being fed data from 25 external signals, including wheel speed, accelerator pedal position, and even the steering wheel angle.
