In the meantime Ford recently unveiled a refreshed 2018 Explorer with mild styling tweaks and tech updates.

I'm guessing the all-new Explorer is for the 2020 model year since the refreshed 2018 Explorer is good for another 1.5 to 2 years.
Initially the spy photos of the refreshed 2018 Explorer with camo was mistaken as the all-new model but a new set of spy photos showing a test mule with different proportions (lower profile with a longer hood, possibly RWD-based?) was caught (spy photos above).
The Explorer in the spy photos above might not yet have the final body since early mules usually have the new platform hidden under a temporary body made from modified body panels of existing models.Last edited by AG4; May 8th, 2017 at 03:45 AM.
