January 26th, 2015 12:50 PM #1Hi Guys! I want to get your input. I'm looking to buy a 2011 Ford focus Hatch, 1.8 engine, automatic, gas with leather seating and Back sensors. it's currently at 27,000Kms and it's being sold to me at 450k negotiable. What do you think? Good buy or should I go look elsewhere?
Thanks!

The 1.8L model of the previous gen Focus is not known for fuel efficiency. You'd be better off with the 2.0L gas model or the much better Focus TDCi model. The Focus TDCi is way more fuel efficient with its 2.0L turbo diesel engine, not to mention it has better performance than the petrol-powered models. Price will be around 450k-550k nowadays.

May new head unit sya na kenwood na may rear camera tapos new rims.
Good buy pa kaya sya considering 80kms na, kahit casa maintained?

March 24th, 2015 01:57 AM #7Make sure it isn't flooded or trashed.
Things to check:
Worn engine mounts - tdci has 3 of these, each costs 8k to replace. Clunking sound whenever you step on the throttle is evident when needs replacing.
If it has the powershift transmission, ask if he have already changed the ATF at 60k kms. Powershift uses special ATF for dual clutch gearbox which costs 2k per liter at Ford. The car uses 5liters but you need 8liters for dialysis. Erratic shifting is apparent if ATF is left dirty/unchanged.
Timing belt is a candidate for replacement at 80k kms. Could last you until 100k kms though.
Also check when he last replaced the battery as the tdci electronics heavily depend on it.
If it has 80k kms from 2011, it means the car is always driven and enjoyed, hopefully not raced.
As long as the car is religiously maintained, doesn't smoke and gets only diesel from clean pumps, then yes it is a good buy.

March 24th, 2015 11:49 PM #10thank you sa input sir.
so far di naman nabaha, tapos new battery sya. ung mga atk di ko pa sure, nung last time na nakisakay ako sa kanya, wala naman syang unusual sound.
question lang, madali kaya mga parts nya, like ung mga atk, timing belt if kailangan na nang palitan?
thanks again
It is repairable. But as oj88 mentioned, it is messy (when repaired) and best used as a last resort.
