December 11th, 2006 03:10 PM #11fyi... starbucks isn't doing exactly great either.
the overhead of the stores are killing them, they have way too many branches.
only some branches are really making money.
starbucks chose to have so many branches because this makes it really tough for a new entrant to come in and grab market share.
but despite the number of shops starbucks' has... look at the amount of other coffee shops we have in this country... ridiculous!

just a question from someone not privvy to starbucks numbers. do you have the source for their loss in as far as overhead is concerned? to enlighten us.
on another note it is said as well that the fastfood biz is not doing to well for the burger boys. but it has to be verified.
the real question was whether KK would be a cult like starbucks has achieved with a certain set.

the high price of each KK donut can justify free morning deliveries to offices.
tingin ko ang strategy talaga ng max dito eh hindi walk-in lang. it's a given. build a delivery network system, papatok ng husto.
kung tuusin, they can give the donut at price of 22/donut (265/12 (1 dozen)

they will hit big kung kung mapapaganda nila brand awareness lalo na using television commercials, look at dunkin donuts, pag ang mga bata nagsabi ng donuts, most likely dunkin ang una nasa isip nila, kumbaga sa fried chicken at spag, jolibee agad.

checking their international website KK doesnt use TV and other traditional forms of media but more PR and stunts. Same as Starbucks (that's why I make the comparison) which uses word of mouth. Generally TV ads Starbucks does in international markets are for stuff they sell in groceries not the main brand. Now will KK go against their international thrust of non-trad advertising. Plus will a few shops merit a nationwide TV push? given that it is very expensive and only the Fort based (and possibly manila based) at the moment.

I wonder if the fact that pushing deliveries will not help the KK idea of "hot and fresh". kahit max must have taken a beating to try to get people to walk into their restos when they had the half chicken promo recently. when a company resorts to promo tactics too much they may be digging a hole for themselves...

ok KK, i think they will make it big here, not as big as starbucks though, based on the comments KK sold here are sweet, the one the that i had eaten werent that sweet, i hope KK adapts to the philippine market to boom.
dunkin donuts, adapts to phil market really well, their donut are to th pinoys taste, its not bad either, though it doesnt have that melt in your mouth feel.
mister donuts serves good coffee, i dunno if they still maintain the same brewed taste they serve before
see my pahabol statement above. i mean, i can go on vacation anytime. but my spouse has her...
